Grad night(s)?

Folks, I'm a DL veteran but I don't believe I've ever faced a grad night. I was thinking of going this Weds (the 17th), arriving at trope-drop. However I see from the DL calendar that there's a grad night that day/night (10:00 AM to 9:00 PM). So grad "night" actually begins in the morning? Should I expect it to be busier? Generally, should grad night days be avoided?

I've heard rope drop isn't terrible, but it will get more and more busy as the day goes on.

I believe the deal is that the grads get park hopper tickets that they can use as soon as they arrive, and they'll be arriving throughout the day from various places. Since most are starting their day with transportation to the parks, they likely won't arrive by rope drop. We noticed grad groups trickling in by 11 am though, and by late afternoon, they had taken over! Hate the crowds, but love the enthusiasm of the kids and their love for Disney!

Thanks! This is helpful. I think I'll go and make the best of the morning and then for the rest of the day try to not look 21 so kids won't ask me to buy for them ;-).

Most of the buses get there in the afternoon because they are having to travel although some schools are staying in hotels across the street. We usually get there around 12:30-1pm but it becomes more and more congested as the afternoon wears on so I would highly recommend getting to the parks early.

The kids will all have wristbands on to designate them as Grads (if Disney sticks to the process they have been using over the last 4 years).

Do the grads stay until close? We're going the first part of June, and a couple of the days we'll be there are grad nights. We're staying on property and plan to go back to the room to rest some in the afternoon. Hoping it clears out some as we get later into the evening.

They have a private party at DCA from 10PM-1AM (or is it 2?). So they should start filtering out of Disneyland before 10PM. So if Disneyland is open until midnight the last few hours should be free of grads.
