My family has been enjoying Disney for years. We go to the park almost annually, have been to Florida twice and went on the Disney Magic Cruise - all were great! We even own stock in the "Happiest place on earth". My son just returned from Grad Night and apparently it was a disaster. Extremely overcrowded. Rude security. Too many people, not enough room. His school (small Catholic college preparatory school - good kids) booked the Blast off at California Adventure Park and were kept on the bus for several hours waiting to get off. They only had about 45 minutes of the "Blast off" to enjoy, got no dinner (voucher was included), the place was packed and many of the rides were shut down. He claims to have only been on 4 rides all night long. This kid is an experienced Disney fan who as of today swears he and his school will not be returning. He says the crowd of students AND chaperones were pretty hostile. Several of our chaperones have been going for years and stated that this was the worst.
Wheres the Magic? I understand that nobody wants to turn a school away- what with stagnant park profits and all, but to crowd too many people into the park just makes a bad experience for everyone. At this point, even I, a diehard Disney fan, could not recommend spending the time and money it takes to attend to attend Grad Night. And I can't imagine that I will be able to drag my son along with me to Disneyland again....
