Now that the election is over, let's hope DIS posters, on both sides of the aisle, can show grace and dignity.

I've been on the community boards since the announcement was made. Sadly, I don't think some people can or are willing to show grace and dignity.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. I have already seen the sour grapes, and the world is going to end stuff. And I have seen the in your face, hahaha! we won stuff.

So sad.

I'd like to remind my fellow Democrats just how crappy it felt 4 years ago when we were called whiners and crybabies and to implore them to not act the same way this time. Let McCain supporters grieve the way they want. This has been a long election and people have invested a lot of emotion into it and deserve to be treated with respect. Let it go, move on and be happy that your candidate won.

I didn't vote for Obama but now that he is President, I hope he can help put our country back on track. I will pray for him daily to make the right choices. This is a historic day. My 7 yo DS has been very interested in the election, he told me tonight that he wanted to go visit the White House. So, I guess we need to take a trip to Washington, DC so he can see it. I think it's great that the kids have gotten involved. They had mock elections at his school and my daughters.

I'm with you. I have mostly stayed out the political threads on the DIS since the 2004 election when the comment "have an issue, get a tissue" was made to one of the Kerry supporters shortly after Bush was declared the winner. That smarted!

I hope the Obama supporters will work to close the division that we've been feeling for so long.

I have been spent all evening trying to promote graciousness - on both sides.. I am not a "winner" or a "loser" in this race - as I was not particularly fond of either candidate.. BUT - it's over now.. We need to come together as one.. Give the President-elect the benefit of the doubt - not tar and feather him before he has done anything at all..

We are a great country.. We will be fine.. Let's go forward with optimism - not shroud ourselves in gloom and doom..

Tomorrow is a new day - and one that I am looking forward to..:thumbsup2

No one is promised tomorrow....some can have an aggressive cancer with a 2 week to 2 month survival rate.....

This is true.. "Tomorrow" is only a promissory note - yet another reason people should not be predicting what is going to happen so far into the future..

Perhaps I should have said something more along the lines of "I'm thankful to be alive tonight - and optimistic for the future.."

It is Morning in American again. I am proud to be an American again. As I travel around the world, there will be no need to hold my head down anymore. May God bless President-elect Obama.:thumbsup2

Roll eyes all you want, this was the news we received today about my cousins Dh today,he just turned 50 and they have an 8 yr old son.....just making a point....to what a PP mentioned, that is all.

I am very, very sorry to hear that.. I have dealt with many unexpected tragedies in my own life and I know how heart breaking it can be.. :( However, doctors are not always correct - don't let your optimism fail you now.. Pray (if you are so inclined) and help this family live each day to the fullest while they still can..

Thanks so much, and yes we are praying! THey have college aged kids as well..THanks for the words:)

I haven't see any ha ha in your face posts on the Obama threads. Just happy people celebrating. The posts from McCain supporters have some being positive, but many being negative and still smearing and telling lies. And for the record, Joy To The World was not played after Obama's acceptance speech. Sometimes I just want to bang my head on the wall! Not tonight though. I'm just a happy camper. :cool1:

There are some people on here who are still campaigning and trying to discredit Obama. Someone should let them know the election is over.

Funny, I have seen many Obama supporters hopping over to Conservative threads just to rub noses in. I have read many conservative threads where WE are ready to move on with our lives and accept BO as our president and see improvement. I wish him the best, I wouldn't want that job for any amount of money.

There are plenty of sore losers and poor winners on these boards. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be going away. These peopel all have their heads buried in the sand and fail to see what they are doing is not helping anything. The election is over, time to move on and find a way to work together.

Some people have even suggested it is time to start working on 2012. Come on, give things a chance and try to make this work. What you don't need is another term or two of acrimonious attacks and a failure to try to reach compromise.
