GPS question

I live on the West Coast, and plan on taking my GPS with me to DW. Husband says it may be pre-programed with West Coast maps and not work in Florida. How would I find that out? It's a garmin and I've had it for two or three years. I also have an Iphone, but find the maps aren't as good (and I can't make it speak with an English accent).

I believe that your Garmin came preloaded will road maps of all of the lower 48 states and maybe even Alaska & Hawaii. We have a Tomtom that is about the same age and it has them all. If you don't have your manual, try looking up your model online, you may even be able to download upgrades. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most gps units sold in the US already have those maps.

We have a Garmin, there is no reason it shouldn't work anywhere in the US.
Go ahead and put in an address in WDW and see what happens.

One thing I would recommend - mousesavers has all the orlando big attractions saved as coordinates that you can upload to your gps. There are instructions and everything. Took us right to where we wanted to go - each and every time this last trip.

Another tip... if you have a window seat on your flight, once you can turn on electronic devices, go ahead and turn on the gps... not only is it cool to see it register 600+ mph, but you get a progress map of where the plane is (probably need to zoom out from street level), AND even though you need to turn it off when you start your decent, it will have a better idea of which satellites to look for when you get in your car.

One caveat... I'm told GPS's can only be used on certain airlines. I used mine on Delta in September.
