We are renting a car for the week. I have heard that getting around the Orlando area is diffficult. Mostly being side roads as opposed to being highways. How difficult is it? Do I need to mapquest everything? Is it neccesary to have GPS/Never Lost?
Thanks in advance,
Kellie

I've actually found getting around to be pretty easy.

But, tell us, where are you intending to drive from-to? Are you driving from the airport to your hotel? Where will you be staying? What attractions will you be visiting? What else do you want to drive to?

I don't think it is hard to get from the airport to Disney property. Once you are on property there are plenty of signs.

How easily do you get lost? I never need NeverLost but I always bring a map. On the other hand, my husband can get lost just driving to work, so NeverLost is a necessity for him. :earseek:

I was just going to ask if I shoul print out directions ... like we may want to go to the Gaylord Palms ice show ... and the outlets , ect ...

Mapquest is not always the best, not so up to date on streets and always seems to take me around the long way .... so what should I do? Are there other sites better than mapquest???

Thanks great ?

Jeff,
We are picking up the car from the airport. The house is in Kisssimmee. For parks we are doing Universal/IOA, Busch Gardens, Kennedy Space Center. I tried to map some things and mapquest could not locate the starting address of the home. I suppose that is because it is new. I have heard that Hertz has neverlost. Does any know of other companies that have this in there cars? Do we need it?
Thanks in advance,
Kellie

Kellie,
You shouldn't have much difficulty with those things, with the possible exception of the home. For that, I'd suggest talking to the ower/agent for directions from the airport. In general, I'd expect the directions to the house to tell you to leave the airport by the South exit and take 417 (aka Greenway) to exit 6. From there, I can't help you without knowing the location.

To get from the house to Disney, it will probably be simple enough to get on 192 drive to World Drive to get onto Disney property. The signs are pretty good for the four parks, so just follow the directions.

Going to Universal is almost as easy. You'll need to get on 192 to I-4 East. Follow that for about 15-20 miles and you'll see the signs for Universal. Sorry I can't give more specific directions than that, but I don't visit there.

Busch Gardens in Tampa is a bit over an hour away. I can get you over to Tampa (just get on I-4 West) but don't think I could get you to the park. Sorry.

KSC is a great place and easy to get to. From the house, get back on 417 (GreenWay) the same way you got from the airport. Drive back past the airport exit and keep going until you get to 528 (BeeLine) and take that east. It will pretty much take you all the way there. Just watch for signs as you get close.
