Anyone with a gps with traffic feature? Do you find it useful/accurate? I read that garmin gps with the traffic feature has popup ads.

I have a Garmin gps with traffic. Yes, there are pop up ads that are tiny. You won't notice them unless you are looking at the gps. My screen size is 5" diagonal and the ads are less than 1/4" along the top or bottom. The traffic is a good feature that I like. It's good to know there is something coming, even if I don't avoid it.

which Garmin do you have? We have to replace our gps and were looking at the Garmins for a change. Lifetime maps and traffic are musts for us.

If you like, you can install google maps on your cell phone and it uses your internet connection for the maps and traffic. In this case it does not talk to you but is free and constantly updated.

If you are looking for a Garmin, go for the ones with lifetime traffic and map updates (the model number usually has "LMT" in it).

Keep your eyes open around Father's Day -- the best Garmins usually go on sale at Target around the low $120s.

As for the "pop-up" ads, they are not intrusive/annoying...

The traffic feature has saved us more than once. In March, the signs going into Atlanda said SIX lanes closed. :scared1::scared1::scared1: The GPS steered us around it with only about a 10 - 15 minute delay. Coming back through Atlanta (of course) another delay and another detour. Maybe 20 minutes lost that time.

Instead of updating the maps on my old GPS, I spent a little more and got one with the lifetime maps! Be warned that it takes HOURS to update over my low cost connection at home. Shouldn't have waited until the last night before vacation to do this.
