I wasn't sure just where to put this. I had a few options and decided here.
We recently bought a Magellan GPS and love it. We are brining it to disney since twice we have gotten lost on property :scared1: and almost misssed our dining ressie. I know they have those 8 1/2 by 11 resort and park maps but the print is so LITTLE my old eyes can barely read the print! Has anyone used this while traveling around on Disney property? What has your expereince been. Also, sometimes I feel their routing system has us going in circles...
Thanks

I can't answer you but we also plan on using a GPS for the first time and I am wondering the same thing. I Hope some one can share their experience with us.

You guys are kidding, right? While Disney is very spread out, I have alway found that the signage is very good when navigating by car. Also, at every resort if you go the the desk they will provide you with a highlighted map of anywhere you want to go on property.

I use my GPS every time I visit with my family. Driving around the Disney property can be very confusing and a GPS makes it easy! If you take the time to gather the addresses of places you're going to visit and enter them ahead of time it really makes for smooth sailing.

A good source of GPS info is www.poi-factory.com. You'll find POI files for most anything you can think of, including Disney resorts.

I've got a Garmin 660 and did bring it to WDW with me once just as a play thing. It was pretty good on directions but I don't really need that at WDW because the signs are so good and I've been there often enough that I know my way around anyway.

We used our GPS in Oct. to get around. It was great! We have a Garmin (not sure which model, it is about 4 years old). My husband got online and downloaded all of the addresses we needed before we left home. We stayed offsite, so he even mapped out grocery stores and fast food places. We usually stay onsite, so were a little nervous about getting around. We never had a problem! I would recommend it highly.

Magic... While I agree that WDW did a very good job with traffic signage on property, I still see persons backing up towards missed off-ramps/ exits, making u-turns interfering with traffic and persons driving extremely slow. Persons staying off-property may not bother to stop in at a resort and get a property map.

If it takes a GPS to help someone navigate the property safely I encourage them to use it. :drive:

Thanks for the info.. GREAT SITE!!! unfortunately my Magellan Maestro does not let me put in data directly and I have to put it into a program, then on a card then into the unit... does yours work that way also.. seems like a lot of trouble when you can just enter and addres into the thin why not Long & Lat. Also, the program won't take a negative number like MISS POI shows... it want a number between 0 and 90???? did you encounter anything like this?

Good point. I guess we are down there so often I forget that it can be overwhelming at times.

I have GPS on my Blackberry and will be using it it Disney in three weeks. This is our first visit, and signage or not, I'm sure I'll get turned around at some point. Gotta have my GPS

We're not leaving until late Sept and I have already loaded many disney resorts and attractions...

The website listed above was of great help to me. Here it is again..

I also welcome input on any other POI sites people have found to be useful.
