GP discount gone, what will the AP discount bring?

I've never been an annual passholder, but I am right now!! I checked online, and the RO discount for my dates and resort are already unavailable.

Will they announce an AP discount later? If so, what are my chances of being able to secure it since the RO discounts for GP are already gone?

One of my main motivations for the AP was the room discount, I would be so disappointed to be closed out of it.

I know nobody can forsee the future, but I'm hoping that some experienced passholders and offer some insight. Thank you!!

It all depends on your dates and resorts. We have been able to get AP discounts for our Jan, Feb, March and Aug trips at 35% off at a deluxe resort and 20% at a moderate. But were not able to use it for Oct. because our resorts weren't available.

The nice thing about AP discounts is that they are usually good until a day or so before check in day. General public discounts always expire early. But the bounce back discounts are sometimes a better deal than AP discount, especially during popular times.

I'm also hoping for a better AP discount! I think I read that they are usually released a few weeks after GP discounts?

If not I guess flying on miles and already having the AP makes the crappy discount a little easier to swallow....

Congrats on being an AP holder! We have had AP's for 12 years now :). As of the last couple of years, we normally get about 5% more off than the GP rates, so maybe 35% or so off deluxe. As far as availability, it really does vary depending on dates and resort. I tend to spend a lot of time on the WDW website playing around with dates/rates/resorts until I find the most ideal. In the end, I usually always end up with an AP discount. Hint: Make sure you always click on "offer details" underneath your nightly rate on the reservations page. That will show you each night's rate so you can see if you're getting the full discount each night. I have had to maneuver reservations before because AP rate hasn't been available on a weekend, for example, but the GP rate was available on the weekend. It was kind of a pain in the neck splitting up the reservation, but at least I got the best deal/rate that way.

Good news!!

OP here.

I called back around 2:30PM yesterday. I was booked for CR TPV for 4 nights, and in the morning I tried to add a night and was told the resort was fully booked, even at rack rate, and so I was forced to book the extra night at the GF. Not ideal.

I checked Orbitz and they had a TPV room in CR for the extra 5th night, so I called Disney back. Not only were they able to find me a room for the extra night, they were also able to use the RO discount that was unavailable that morning. Also got the discount for 2 more bookings for BIL/SIL and MIL/FIL for our TPV rooms in CR.

I'm so happy that we were able to secure the GP discount, and I'll still be watching for AP discount to see how much more I can save. She wasn't sure why the discounted rooms weren't available in the morning, and I was too grateful to find out much more.
