They require a test within 72 hours of flying up, but no quarantine if it's negative. There is the option of testing once you land in Anchorage instead, but that costs $250 for non-residents and that situation does come with a quarantine while you wait for results. (For a while last summer, there was a backup in getting results, but most ppl I know who've done it get results back within 2 days.)We actually just cancelled our land vacation to Alaska that was supposed to happen in July. We live near Seattle so it's a quick and cheap flight for us and would have been a first trip there. But they require testing and quarantine right now. So there went our quick trip.
The testing requirements were more stringent several months ago (requiring multiple tests and quarantines), but it's been somewhat "relaxed" (I guess I'd say more streamlined). Anchorage is also relaxing some dining and entertainment restrictions. The Kenai Peninsula, where many tourists (and locals) go to fish and camp, has had a drop in cases (kids went back to in-person school several weeks ago). Overall, AK is also doing a relatively good job with vaccination (in terms of % of people who have received at least their first dose).
