After our last trip to Disney World in December I found myself with a swollen foot, leg, and pain that was horrible! I couldn't walk and putting shoes on was not going to happen (Which was no fun because it was the middle of December! :scared1: ) Well now we are close to our Honeymoon and I just reminded myself that I need shoes this time around that will not cause the gout or help it form.

What shoes do you suggest I use? Crocs? Gym Shoes?

Any suggestions are welcome!

Are you on any medications for gout? Gout is caused primarily by high uric acid levels in your blood. When I was 37 I was diagnosed with gout and have been on 100mg of Allopurinol daily since then. It is a very generic medication and runs about $4 for a 90 day supply.

I came down with gout 25 or so years after my kidney donation. As PP said Allopurinol in 100 or 300 works fine and it also keeps my other kidney working just fine.

I found new Balance sneakers walking shoes model 608 is best for me. if aches start then Ibuprofin helps as does a lot of water.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I am going to need to try something because this always happens once it gets colder. During the summer I wear open toed everything then come colder weather and I wear shoes and boots and it is just horrible for me!
