Gotta love my job...( vent )

I only work weekends but I never call in sick unless I'm really sick.
Last friday I went to Sam's club and coming out of the store I felt this all of a sudden weakness that I thought I was going to faint, so I held on to my cart for a minute and I stood in their door thinking if I faint someone will see me here. It went away after a while but ever since I didn't feel very good. Yesterday I went to work and I felt dizzy , a bit nauseated and just "not right" . I came home and after a while I took my blood pressure, it was 142/80 which for me that is unusually high , I always tend to be low.
I took it several times at different times and it was almost the same every time so I called my doctor, he says to just take it easy until monday and go see him because this is very unusual for me.
So I called my job today, told them I'm not going to be in , I remind you they have 6 other people on shift besides me and guess what they told me?? did you call someone else to cover your shift?? HELLO??? Like I can schedule when to get sick!!!
These are the same people who told me I had to schedule for someone to cover my shift when I was going to MIL's funeral on a saturday , and the same ones who told my co-worker on her way to NY after she got a phone call that her mother had a stroke , the same thing!!
They can wait all they want for me to call someone to cover my shift, it just ain't happening and they have more than enough people there to handle it without me.

Sorry to hear that your job is such a pain about that! That is terrible that they treat you like that when you are sick or something like that. I do hope you feel better soon and that your doc can figure out what is causing you BP to be so high.

Man do I understand!!! My job we joke that you have to throw up on the boss before she realises we are really sick!!!!!!
Like we should come to work sick?? Im sure my clients would love me to cough or whatever all over them??!!

Well, I didn't bother to call anyone to cover my shift ( never did and never will ) because things like this is what comes with the managerial package. I just do not care what they think or do, heck I won't be lucky enough to get fired!

Hope you are feeling better soon. I used to work in a hospital and we were expected to show up for work unless we were dead. My supervisor used to "joke" that since we were surrounded by nurses and doctors, we could never get away with "faking sick". One of my coworkers was so afraid of losing her job for calling in sick, she collapsed in her office and wound up in the ER!! The doctor said she let herself become so run down she had to spend a couple of days in the hospital for something that would have gone away in a couple of days had she just called out sick and stayed home for 2-3 days and took care of herself. All she would have needed was a simple prescription from her doc, instead she got a hospital stay.
