Day 9 - Magic Kingdom

We plan to have breakfast at the resort this morning. We'll take the boats over to MK. Maybe we'll get lucky and this will be active as we walk to the boat dock.

Disney9-05078.jpg

Today will be "catch up" day at MK. We'll probably see what we missed from earlier in our trip and then do our favorites again.

I'm still mad that this will be closed though.

I imagine that all of these will be things that we will repeat:

I am not sure how much we will get done before our lunch ressie at Saana. I am looking forward to eating here. I am hoping it is as good as it sounds!

After lunch we will go back to WL for a bit. I'd like to get back to MK for the 3 p.m. parade, but that won't happen. I'm hoping to have had the chance to see it earlier in the week though.

We plan to spend our evening back at MK. We are trying Diamond Horseshoe for the first time for dinner. I'm anxious to try this place too.

Spectro and Wishes are playing again tonight and honestly, I'd love to see them both one last time. Hopefully the rest of the family will feel the same. If not, I may just stay and see them. I've never been to MK alone...ever. I wonder what it would be like?

I haven't yet; it's been a terribly busy week. It's on the agenda for the weekend, though!!

LOL to planning that trip. All of my co-workers come to me now to plan for them, too. If someone mentions Disney, they're immediately told to go to Heather.

WOHO for double digits!!! You're going to be in single digits before you know it!!

I have a question for you; we need to get to the Fort Wilderness campgrounds one night. I think you can get there from WL, correct? We'll be at AKV at that point; how would you suggest getting there?? I have no clue!!

Oh my GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I had more than 10 pages to catch up on!!!!

But I did!! :thumbsup2

I just L O V E your itinerary - great photos and great planning!!!!

:woohoo: Congratulations :woohoo: on double digits - it feels just SO much closer once you loose the third digit! :goodvibes

Your new bathroom looks FAB! I wish I could do the same to mine! But I can't get all the fun stuff here and ordering it from Disney.shopping has me paying taxes big time (they even charge taxes on shipping :scared1: and Disney is VERY expensive!)

Steve - oh my, such a cutie! I LOVE cats and we have one VERY spoiled little princess around the house (don't tell anyone, but last year we made the trip to Key West partly because the Kitty shop there has toys she absolutely adores :rotfl2:)
I can't wait for the day you get to take Steve home - I hope we hear lots of little stories about him! :cloud9:

Okay, now that I have caught up with all the news - let the fun continue! :flower3:

Funny little story.........

One of my Directors at work is going to Orlando for a conference at the Gaylord. She booked a Hilton somewhere off property and her husband, son and granddaughter are joining her. She said that they wanted to go to Disney. I asked if she had looked into a Disney property since she is not staying at the Gaylord anyway. She had not. I told her that they are offering free dining. She had never heard of that.

Well, long story short, she is now staying at POFQ, getting FD and her trip is planned. Guess who helped her plan it? ME! :lmao: We are going to do her ADR's on Monday. I have her some suggestions and asked her to check the Disney site for restaurants that appeal to her.

I also did basic touring plans for first timers. It was so much fun.

It was so odd to me though that she'd not even looked at staying at Disney, etc.

It's amazing that some people don't realize there are hotels on Disney property. Thankfully, your Director had you to set her straight. :thumbsup2

Aww what a nice thing to do and must have been lots of fun planning for them :goodvibes

Day 9 plans sound great :thumbsup2 If you have to watch Spectro on your own I think you will love it, esp as its in the evening too, with the atmosphere and excitment in the air. It will be like a new way to experience Main Street :goodvibes and the plus side is that you are only a boat or short bus ride away :)

Ok where are the Steve pics, have you picked him up yet?

We've gone to FWC only twice before and we took a bus. The entrance to FWC and WL are not near each other and I don't really know if you can get to FWC from the Lodge except for via the boat. I know that the boat that goes to MK stops at FWC. I remember when we stayed at WL that we stopped there. :confused3

I get the same thing. People run to my office when they are planning their trips. It's kinda fun, isn't it? :wizard:

I am still doing the double digit dance!!

I am downloading pictures of Steve right now which I will post shortly. He is such a cutie!

That stinks that you have to pay taxes on your Disney shopping stuff! Are there no Disney stores there? I'd bring an extra suitcase to stuff full of Disney stuff while you're here on your trip! :rolleyes1

I love the bathroom. I don't even mind cleaning it!! :lmao:

It was amazing to see her face light up as I was telling her about all that they have to offer.

Getting ready to post the pictures now. I bet you're probably sleeping though due to the time difference. :sad1: I can't wait for you to see him.

I'm still tweaking our plans as we go. I love the fact that we are a short boat ride from MK. I'm happy with our resort selection.

So this morning we got up early, cleaned the house and Joe cut the grass. We had to do last minute shopping before we went to get Steve. We also got our groceries so that we don't have to go out this weekend.

We were picking up Steve at 1. Mark, the guy that had him, said to come a bit early so that we could see all of the kittens, etc. I was getting really anxious until we finally got there. Mark had them in his work out room, upstairs, separated from his other cats.

There was no way that I could choose. He had three girls and three boys. There were two that were chubby little things. He named them Big Boy and Big Girl. All of the kitties were playing and bouncing all over the place. Joe noticed one little guy that had a stub for a tail. :sad2: We asked what happened to him and Mark said that when he found the babies, his tail was at a 90 degree angle and then it just ... well.... fell off. :scared1: Yep, you guessed it. That's Steve, or Stubby Steve as we now call him!

Here are some pictures of the kittens and their momma.

There was one crazy dude that kept escaping and trying to get down the stairs. Somehow he even made it on the kitty carrier. These guys are TINY so I was amazed that he got up there.

steve004.jpg

Here is one of me wrestling with Steve once we picked him from the bunch.

steve005.jpg

It was hard to take him though because both Mark and his girlfriend got teary eyed. I felt so bad, but there was no way that they could keep 11 cats! They had 4 of their own.

Off we went to the vet. We stopped at my mom's so that she could see him. My nephew wanted to see him too.

We got to the vet with him and were told that he is probably more like 4 or 5 weeks old. Mark didn't know their exact birthday so Joe and I picked May 1st. He is so tiny that they were only able to give him one kitten shot. We have to take him back in 4 weeks for the second and then again 4 weeks later for the third. He weighs in at a whopping 1.8 pounds. :woohoo:

Continued on next post.

We got home and the first thing I did was put him in one of the litter boxes. He also explored the house for a bit. The first one of our cats to greet him was Gus. Gussy had this "what the hell is THAT" look on his face. They got pretty close and then Subby Steve puffed himself up like he was superman or something. Gus just turned around and walked away. He's been sleeping on our bed ever since and doesn't seem to care.

Next up was Lucy. Yeah, she's mad. She is anything but happy and has mastered the stink eye look like you would not believe. She's been giving him the stink eye since she first laid eyes on him.

Tessie Jean kept her distance. What was funny though was that I took one of our cat carriers and put it in our office. I made a little bed in there for Steve if he wanted to go inside. I also have a tiny litter pan and food and water bowls here in the office for him. I plan to keep them separated until everyone gets use to each other.

Steve decided that he wanted to nap. Here is basically what he has been doing for the lat three hours.

Pictures are a little crappy but I didn't want to have the flash go off in his little eyes.

Wish me luck! It's gonna be a long night!!!

I can not get over how cute Steve is. Can't wait to hear what kind of stuff he gets into.

Steve is a downright cute little heart throb! PLEASE post more of his adventures and photos - he definitely has a fan in Austria!

Yes, we DO pay taxes on most things that come from a store outside of Austria!
My D23 pins were about twice as expensive as they originally were with the taxes.
NO Disney stores here - the closest I know are in either Paris or London! :rotfl2: And that's about 1000 km too far away from me.
We have actually done the suitcase thing! Going with 2 suitcases and coming home with 4! ;) But Lufthansa is going to put a stop to it. They have taken away the second free suitcase per person, so we will have to pay for anything more than 2 suitcases!
Disney have mercy - open a Disney store somewhere around here! :wizard:

Steve is absolutely adorable. You might need a "cat" nap today. :)

I got to sleep last night.....poor Joe...he did not!

:goodvibes You should pop over and see him since you live so close!

I will surely post about Stevie and his adventures!!

Yikes! I can't believe it's so darn expensive! One other idea would be to do laundry while you are at Disney. You can each take 1 suitcase and then come back with 2 each, which would be less expensive than coming back with 4 each, right? :teacher: Wow, I can't believe how expensive it is for you.

Well, this year is the last time Lufthansa allows two suitcases per person (and only because I already bought our tickets in November of last year! :lmao:) I guess we will do some big time shopping esp. since we are staying at OKW and have a washer and dryer in our villa, so less clothing items to take with us!
I cannot imagine going with only 2 suitcases for 2 people for a 4 week vacation! :rotfl2:
I showed the pictures of Steve to Tom today and he thinks he is so cute too! I admire anyone who takes in more than one cat :worship:, we have our hands full with our little "princess"!

I'm glad that you got your tickets early! I can't imagine not taking 2 suitcases each. Joe and I take that and we're gone for about 10 days. :lmao:

I took a few more pictures of Steve this morning. My stupid camera battery died so when it charges, I will be posting them too. He's such a sweetie. I am a sucker for kitties. We're now at 4, which is the city limit so I will be stopping. :lovestruc

CAT LOVERS UNITE! :grouphug:

I don't even know if there is a limit to how many cats we are allowed to keep - Pixie is keeping us on our toes anyway! And we are lucky to have wonderful cat sitters or otherwise we would not be able to go away for 4 weeks!

Good to hear that there are other people out there who travel with a lot of luggage ;)! Last year when we went on our first cruise there were people with just carry on luggage and I have no idea HOW they managed! :rotfl2:

::MinnieMo::MinnieMoDay 10

I can't believe I am already at plans for day 10.

After our breakfast at the resort, we're heading here:

CIMG4079.jpg

My tentative itinerary says "finish World Showcase." It seems like we can never get the entire showcase done in a day. That's okay by me though because I love WS.

For my must do's, I've got the following, but I think it will depend on where we leave off from our visit earlier in the week:

I really want to get another one of these. Joe got me two of them and they were both really close in size. I still have not had them set into earrings, but that's the plan. I also want to set one in a necklace so I am crossing my fingers that I get a nice sized pearl this year.

DisneySept09Vol4306-1.jpg

I love shopping in the store in Japan. I just wish that some of the clothes in there fit me but honestly, I am way too Pooh sized to get into anything.

I definitely need to go and see my man.

DisneySept09Vol4348.jpg

We'll definitely want to stop here again. We never seem to spend a lot of time in Italy for some reason and I'd like to do more there this trip.

DisneySept09Vol4289-1.jpg

DisneySept09Vol4293-1.jpg

Hopefully we'll get to see these guys too when we visit the America Pavilion.

DisneySept09Vol4302-1.jpg

Funny story about the American Adventure. When we were there in May 09, it was raining like you would not believe. The show had ended and everyone was in the exit lobby because it was pouring...and lightening. It really wasn't safe to go outside. Well, we're all sitting there and here comes some CM and she says, "everyone needs to exit the building...everybody out." Yeah, very un-American-like if you ask me! So we all went outside in the lightening and proceeded to get soaked while we found cover somewhere else.

I also want to see O Canada too. I keep checking to see if I can find one of our buildings. The company I work for is one of the top IT employers in Canada and our world headquarters are in Montreal. We have offices all over and the buildings have our name on them so I am always seeing if I can try and spot one!

We also want to spend more time in the UK. I can spend DAYS in the tea store. Yikes, one year I bought a TON of it! I love, love, love that store!

I will also decide on what Mickey to get. I get a Mickey from a different country each trip. Last year I got one from France and the UK. Not sure what I will get this year but I have it on the list to make my decision today. Good thing as it is our last full day at Disney. :sad1:

We have an ADR at Maya Grille for dinner. Joe loved it there last year. We stayed at CSR and we were tired of the Pepper Market so one night we just walked up to see if they had a table. OMG, the food was amazing.

DisneySept09Vol1136.jpg

DisneySept09Vol1138.jpg

DisneySept09Vol1140.jpg

After dinner we will likely go to DTD for our last minute shopping. I always get things from the Christmas store and this year, I'd like to get them personalized, which is something that I don't normally do. I figure if I get them done earlier in the trip, I can pick them up this day, as long as I don't have them delivered to the resort.

We'll also take one last pass through the World of Disney and likely spend any left over snack credits at Goofy's. I love the rice krispy ears! I also get one of the giant krispy Mickey heads to take to work with me.

It will be a sad evening I think, given it will be the last one before we head home.

If we have not already done so, I envision a trip to UPS to ship boxes home. Last year we shipped 4 HUGE boxes home. :rolleyes1 Yeah, sad, isn't it, considering how much luggage we took with us. :rolleyes1

Oh, Pixie is ADORABLE!!!!! I too am lucky to have family to cat sit for us. I wouldn't be able to travel if I didn't know that my babies were well taken care of. I call home every day too to see what's going on. Sad, I know. :rolleyes1

It always amazes me to see people that travel with a small carry on. I have no idea how they manage. My toiletries and such take up one entire small suitcase. :scared1:

Hi Emma,

Welcome :welcome: So nice to have you!

Thanks. I have been working on trying to improve my photography.

Plans continue to look great. Do you now that in eight stays we have NEVER eaten at Maya Grill for dinner (we did breakfast twice). That food looks scrumptious. :)
