Goth

Did you ask her what "goth" meant to her?:goodvibes

Wow, I was 12 so many years ago when I made the declaration. I wasn't allowed to wear makeup so I had to be "inventive" (read stupid). Permanent marker does NOT work as eyeliner.

I guess the other kids told her she is goth. She would love to shop at Hot Topic.

I thought this came later than 7.

So long as they're old enough to act sad and be mad at Mom & Dad, they're old enough to be "goth." :rotfl:

Are you my best friend from high school...? :rotfl:

Did you also Sharpie your nails black, make your own clothes with paperclips and duct tape, and dye your hair with Kool-Aid?

Just kidding.

But I had a SERIOUS "goth" best friend in high school. :goodvibes

I used to be into gothic industrial music. I would send her some of my old CDs but they are not child friendly!

But I love pink to much to be goth!

DS13 likes to think of himself as sort-of Goth -- which means that he likes to wear unrelieved black as often as possible, even in summer heat. :rolleyes1

No makeup, no piercings, and no hair dye -- those things don't interest him. I don't have the heart to tell him that a pale, auburn-haired kid wearing black does not a Goth make.

I tried shoe polish on the nails (what? they both use the word polish!) And it was coffee and tea as hair dye! Did your friend call herself "Noir"? :rotfl:

Too funny! Is anyone really goth anymore?

I have always been into goth/industrial music, but I looked quite out of place at the clubs we'd go to in the 1990's. Black just wasn't my color. I am way too preppy to be goth. :)

I  "Victorian goth." Black velvet and lace gowns...corsets...granny boots...little top hats with net veils...Just bought myself a black Battenburg lace parasol for the 4th of July parade...However, NONE of my clothing was purchased at Hot Topic! I can't even set foot in there - the music is too loud. Not to mention I'd be the "old lady" in there...

I have been known to spend time in cemeteries, photographing the sculptures. I collect anything coffin-shaped. I love Edgar Allan Poe. My favorite flower is a black rose. I have about 10 different black nail polishes.

And I'm considerably older than 7 :goodvibes

I would also not suggest buying her The Gashly Crumb Tinies. :lmao:

I love Edward Gorey!

That's Hilarious!!!! You should ask her is she means the Germanic Tribe or the Popular 16th Century Western European Architectural style :lmao: kidding of course for those of you who get that....Anyway I have been a Metal Head since the age of 8 (1988) when older friends gave me a couple Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath tapes for my birthday(my parents weren't happy LOL) so Goth at 7 why not? :goodvibes

Goth gets a bad rap they often get confused by older people with Emo.....There are tons of great Goth Metal and Goth Rock bands there are ZERO Emo Bands that are listenable :rotfl: That's just my opinion of course but seriously there is more to Goth than wearing Black...But then again at the age of 7 that's probably all it means and quite frankly all it should mean :)
