GOTG preview-ticket question

So, my oldest daughter and I are being completely insane and flying out from the west coast for three nights for the GOTG previews on May 9. Probably. We have SSR booked, airfare booked (can cancel though) and APs for Universal to use on our other day.

Here’s the question. There are no parks available for the 9th. My understanding is that we don’t need to have a park reservation with the preview. What do I do about buying a ticket, though? Just want a one day one park ticket-plan to enjoy Epcot, flower and garden food, ride ratatouille which we loved when we rode in soft opening in Paris. However, we can’t buy a ticket for that day since no reservations available? Help!

Are there no reservations for any park? If there are other parks, buy, book that and then cancel that park…but keep trying.

I have no idea then. Sorry. Maybe you will have to wait until you get there and go to GR to buy it that day.

I thought I read that the park reservation is auto added to your MDE a few days in advance. I can't locate where I read it, but it seems like you could purchase at that point.

Someone mentioned that is only done for AP preview..not DVC.

I know I read that you don't need a park reservation. Here's the email:

I rad that as not needing a park reservation for DVC either.

Have a great time!!!

You don’t but you do need a ticket to get in. OP is not being allowed to buy a ticket because of all the park reservations gone. They don’t sell unless at least one park can be reserved.

Yea that's a tough call. I "think" you can walk up to EPCOT and buy your ticket correct? Or do they actually close the in person sales on some days. I have noticed in person day of rates seem much higher though. Have seen EPCOT at around $150.

Argh. Disney customer service…

I do the chat via MDE this weekend and they refer me to DVC member services-closed, so I called this morning.

The woman who I spoke to there said this isn’t their (DVC’s) event, she thought it came with a ticket-it doesn’t-and she can’t help me. What I should do is reach out to the people who sent the email (“just reply to the email”) and maybe they can help. I told her I thought the email was from DVC and she assured me no, this event was for a lot of groups.

I hang up and look at the confirmation email. Which, of course, came from DVC and links to the member services contact page if you have any questions.

Keep trying because this weekend, it was allowing me to buy a one day ticket for May 9th, as long as I chose a different partk that day....not Epcot.

I’m also going on the 9th. My original plan was to simply buy a one day ticket without assigning a park reservation to it (there were no Epcot passes available). I noticed last week that passes became available again, so I grabbed one after the fact, so it’s a moot point. But I would think you could simply buy a ticket for May 9th, then at the entrance a CM would manually add a pass to your account. Good luck!

You don't need a park reservation for GOTG preview, but I don't see how they can add park reservations ahead of time to the accounts of my guests when they don't have their names. It's booked just as me and two unnamed guests. I think you check in at the gate with your guests and you're allowed into the park for the day. I'm the 18th so I will see what those going on the 9th get.

I have an AP, but no Epcot park reservation, since they told me I didn't need one I'm good with that. I think there will be issues with those that don't have ticket media. You DO need valid park admission to Epcot, but my guess is that you could have a park reservation to any park and you can still enter Epcot. If there are no parks at all available, you won't be able to buy a one-day ticket until space opens up in one of the parks. If no space opens in any park you might have a problem.

I think there will be issues with those that don't have ticket media and can't buy a one- day ticket at all because all the parks are full on May 9. You DO need valid park admission to Epcot, but my guess is that you could have a park reservation to any park and you can still enter Epcot. So if there are any other parks available, buy a ticket and reserve that park.
For the DVC Remy event they DID NOT add park reservations to accounts. Upon entry to the park they verified you had a valid ticket and then had you use the tap stye to enter the park. Again, this was done w/o a valid park pass. In fact we actually had a regular park pass for they day and they had us tap in twice so that it would show we were there in terms of the regular pass so we could park hop later. So your unknown guests will need a valid ticket but as you pointed out park passes will not be added / needed for your unknown guests.

The AP Remy event (which we also did) is the one in which they added special park passes for the day (we did HS first and then hopped to EP at 11 since both park passes were showing). Since the AP event is ONLY for AP holders and not for guests it is much simpler for them to manage logistically.

So if I had one day tickets-like ones I wasn’t able to use previously, my understanding is I’ll be able to enter Epcot for the preview even if no park reservations available?

I would say yes!

So long as you have a valid admission ticket that will get you into Epcot, and a confirmed GOTG preview, you don't need a park reservation.

I had to buy a park ticket yesterday for my guest to the DVC preview. The only park available was the Animal Kingdom that day, but it let me purchase a ticket. I now have a ticket assigned to my guest (and myself), but no park reservations since I don't need them for Epcot. Makes me glad I bought a ticket already.

Could we at this point reserve park passes for Animal Kingdom and go to both Epcot and Animal Kingdom?
