GOTG Opening Weekend and impact on DL/DCA crowd patterns

DS(9) and I will be there 5/24-28 -- right in the thick of all the GOTG excitement. As cool as it sounds, I am wondering if (okay...hoping), all the hoopla will draw people away from other attractions. Any thoughts?

It's hard to say. More people may go because the ride is opening so the parks could be busier. However, the luck for you will be that Saturday and Sunday are BOTH blockout dates for all but the highest passes. I expect Monday to be crazy, but it looks like your trip ends on Sunday.

It's also Memorial Day weekend so it'll be more crowded just because of that too! We're there that week and trying to go Monday and either Wednesday or Thursday to avoid the hoopla!
I do hope it'll draw most to that area and free up the other parts, but also have to deal with grad nite crowds too! Whew! Gonna be a busy week!
But still magical!
