GOTG-Mission:Breakout

It sounds really fun to me and I've been one of the curmudgeons who has been bitter about losing TOT. I am looking forward to trying out the new ride and will always miss TOT. Apparently, I'll have to try the new ride at least 6 times to get all the versions of it.

EDITING IN A QUESTION: For those of you who have gone to AP previews of rides, how do they normally handle that? Is it an after hours paid event or do they just check your AP when you are in line during normal hours? Do the FastPass machines work during AP previews? I can imagine AP only lines would still become a couple hours long.

They do it different every time. There was no AP preview of the new Matterhorn or Hyperspace. For Luigi and Little Mermaid you showed your AP. LM broke down a lot, so it wasn't consistently available. Carsland was a hard ticket event. For Star Tours you had to register for a specific time, and then you had access to the FP machine during that time, but they weren't standard FPs, they had a 15 minute window. For some of the character and movie sneak peak AP previews it opened 1 day early for APs, you had your AP scanned and were given a return time, and once they were out, that was in. I remember Baymax ran out in under 90 minutes and they said come back tomorrow when it opens for the general public. If I had to guess, the emphasis will be on press/bloggers/influencers with a possible limited 1 day early preview if you're lucky enough to be there.

The big media event will be the evening of May 25th, with radio & tv spilling over into the morning of May 26th.

I'll admit, the building facade is not my favorite ... to be brutally honest, I find it hideous. Although, I confess this as a totally biased ToT fan. :snooty:

However, I really want to give this ride a fair assessment. No doubt, it has a uphill battle for me to like it better than ToT -- but reading that it has music has me even more intrigued. Not sure how that will play out with GoG but hey, it could blend in perfectly for all I know. (and fwiw, I know squat about GoG) :scared:

Hopefully Disney won't disappoint, and I will be saying it's one of my new favorites.

Music (specifically 1970s and 1980s music) is integral to the GoG story/movie. This ride sounds pretty great to me but I was a big fan of the GoG movie.

Lol! See, I told you I know squat about GoG. :rotfl:

Being a Gen X'er, I have zero problems with the music selections. ;)

I was never a TOT fan as I hate drop rides. I did try it twice, and hated it each time. I loved the storyline and themeing of TOT. But I love GOTG. The music, and the storyline sounds great, however, I don't think I could pay attention to the story when I am hyperventilating over the upcoming drop!

I never even considered riding ToT after talking with my husband about the drops and rough ride. I am intrigued by the story and queue of the new ride. Here's my question... Can any of you explain how accessibility is (was) handled for ToT? I'm guessing it will be the same or similar for GoG. I need a scooter to tour the parks, and if the WC access cuts out the interesting parts of the queue, it won't be worth it for me to try it.

Here are my thoughts from the hard hat tour I experienced yesterday afternoon:

Thank you for that information. It really does sound great. I laughed at the reasoning to how it fits in the theme though. "The Collector wants to show off his collection, so he built his Fortress at the edge of California Adventure, where he knew there would be thousands of tourists visiting each day." Really! Okay, whatever. I think the building looks interesting.

My daughter hates drop rides and my son has asthma (so I worry about him on drop rides and losing his breath). Would love to hear from those that go through about if it is worth it to just walk through (to see the inside) and skip going on the actual ride... My kids LOVED GTG and would love to see all the work that went into making it themed GTG but not the actual ride...

YESSS !!:yay: LOVE THE MUSIC SELECTION!!!:flower1: IT'S GONNA BE SO MUCH FUN !!! I HOPE THEY WILL OPEN UP THIS RIDE FOR EXTRA MAGIC HOUR !! pixiedust:

Oh my gosh, this is so me! I want to try it, but I don't know if I'll make it!

I didn't even think that it might not be open for EMH when I booked the first few nights of our trip at Paradise Pier for EMH benefits. Are new rides usually included in EMH?
