As most of you know, I've been living with my DD, her DH and my just-turned-seven-year-old granddaughter since last October while my son-in-law has been renovating my house so I can sell it..

Well - a week ago my DGD went over there with my DD to give my son-in-law a hand with a few things.. When she came up here to the lake last weekend she was all excited - telling me how different the house is now; how nice the 2nd bathroom is; how pretty the new kitchen cabinets are; etc.. Then she piped up and said, "Grandma, I wish you could buy your house back again.." (She hears us talking about selling it and doesn't quite understand that I still own it and would not have to "buy it back" from myself.. LOL) When I asked her why, she said - "So I could still come over for sleepovers.." I then went on to explain to her that if I were to do that, I would have to move out of their house - which means I wouldn't be living "right across the hall" from her bedroom.. When she heard that, she changed her mind REAL quick and told me to sell it to the people across the street "cause their house is too small anyhow.." :rotfl:

It got me to thinking though.. I miss those "sleepovers" as much as she obviously does and I'm trying to think of something I can do when I go back home to their place that would be like a sleepover - without actually leaving their house..

I know you guys are REALLY creative, so who has some good ideas?? :flower:

No ideas. I'm going to be a terrible grandmother. I can see that already :(

Sometime we have "camp out night" in our basement den. We rent movies, pop popcorn, get the sleeping bags out and sleep on the floor.

Can you make tents/forts out of couch cusions and blankets in the living room and sleep out there one night? Maybe send your daughter and SIL out for the evening so it's just you two.

One thing that we used to LOVE to do is to make tents in the house. We took sheets, blankets, comforters, whatever we could find, and then we attached the linens to chairs and other furniture with books to hold it down, or clothespins. Then we would get sleeping bags, or an air mattress and go in the tent and have our sleepover. We would do each other's nails, tell ghost stories, take snacks in (snacks always taste better in a tent ;)) It was so much fun that I made my fiance make one with me a couple months ago, and we are 25 & 27 :rotfl:

What size bed do you have and could you share it with your DGD once in a while?

OR

Is your room large enough to put a cot or aero-bed in it once in a while so she can go across the hall to your room for a sleepover?

Your back may hate you in the morning but I'm sure she'd love a camp out in the family room. If you can rig up a tent by throwing a sheet over the furniture all the better. Have fun.

Do you have a tent?? Why not really "camp out" in the backyard if that is do-able (weather permitting and if you can "tent-it")...you could roast marshmallows etc.....

Thanks for the ideas! I forgot that my DD and her DH just recently purchased an aero bed.. Too big to fit in my room, but we might be able to squeeze it in my DGD's room - or definitely the dining room (no table in there - that's where my sofa is and my late DH's recliner - even a tv and VCR in there!).. We could probably still fashion a tent over it with sheets and such..

Let's see.. We could get a movie, some junk food, use flashlights instead of real lights.. What else?

And how do I get "Mom and Dad" out of the way? Ban them from their own dining room? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Keep the ideas coming! What kind of snack food would be good in our "tent"? Ideas for activities before/after the movie? Think we should have breakfast in there the next morning?

I knew I could count on all of you to come up with some neat ideas! :flower:

I don't think you'd have trouble convincing mom and dad to avoid you guys! ;)

Sounds like lots of fun.

Let's see, how can we convince your DD and SIL to spend the night out of the house alone  while you get to spend some quality time with your DGD???

I'd be all over that idea if my mother would offer!!!
