My closing is at 3 o'clock on Friday.. :thumbsup2

Now the real fun begins - starting with finding a car.. Wanna go car shopping with me? :teeth:

Oh - and I have to get a new mattress for my bed.. Soft, hard, medium, kind of soft, kind of hard, sorta in between? Pillow-top, regular top, or Portland cement? Regular, hypoallergenic, or orthopedic? Sleep number or body conforming? Floral, print or plain? Name brand, no name or any name? Cheap, average, expensive or "I could have bought the state of Texas for that" ? Cash, check, charge, debit card or "You watch the salesman while I slip it out the back door"? Pick up or delivery?

If I have to go through all that just to get a mattress for my bed, how am I ever going to pick out a car? :rotfl2:

Finally! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.. Let's just hope it's not a train coming in my direction............ ;)

Hey - C.Ann, you test-drive a mattress just like a car! Lie down on a few to see what you like.

Now, the car thing - That should be fun. Just don't be pressured to buy the first day you go looking!

(So glad you'll finally be closing! Good luck on these final details!)

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel kind of funny laying on a mattress in the middle of the store?

I mean I know it's probably the best (and possibly the "only") way of getting the right fit, but I sure will feel silly.. :teeth:

Congrats on the closing!

We have a sleep number bed and we love it. You can set the firmness how you like it, change it everyday or leave it for ages and it won't change.

As for the car, try carmax if you have one by you. We have really enjoyed dealing with them and plan to look there first next car.

Congrats, C. Ann! Yeah, the whole trying out mattress thing is kind of weird!

Congrats on the closing. :woohoo:

Have no idea for a car, that's DH's department, but I recommend a foam mattress. www.tempurpedic.com

Yeah!! Congrats on the closing.

I had to replace my mattress set last year. I bought a really cheap set that didn't last about 15 years ago. So on my next one I went all out and bought an expensive one with a pillow top.

It didn't seem to last much longer. The pillow top just sort of collapsed where I slept on it, and I was down in a hole. I even had the company replace the box springs at one point.

So when I bought a new one last year I went for medium price but very, very firm - no pillow top. My sister asked me if the nails came extra because it was so hard.

I then bought a 3" foam (like Thermopedic) from Overstock.com. It really was too hard without the foam although I like a firm bed. It's great now. If for some reason the foam compacts I will not have to buy a whole new mattress.

For my new condo in New Orleans I ended up going to Sam's. It was impossible to get deliveries in New Orleans so I had to have something I could pick up myself.

I bought two twin mattresses from Sam's and put them together with a king foam topper from Overstock. It is very, very comfortable, plus I can separate them for guests if needed.

The Sam's mattresses are very, very hard. Before I bought the foam topper my sister still preferred to sleep on the air matrress.

And yes it is weird to try out the beds in the store, but my main problem is not knowing how the bed is going to hold up if it is soft at all. The soft beds were very comfortable, but I was afraid of them getting lumpy like my others did.

My friends with the Select Comfort beds just love them, but it is very expensive.

Well I don't want to spend too much money because I'm not going to be in this twin-size bed forever - but I would like to wake up without a backache every morning - LOL..

When I visited my brother in Florida they had this HUGE king size bed in the guest room (the widest/longest bed I've ever seen) and the mattress seemed VERY hard when you sat down on it, but for sleeping? It was heaven! And this from the woman who loves to lay in a feather bed - LOL.. They said that everyone who has ever slept in that bed simply raves about it..

Maybe I should call and ask him what kind it was.. I assume you can get most of the same brands country-wide, right?

That sounds like a plan C.Ann. Good luck with the closing and the shopping. :)
