Got stood up at a DIS meet today

Well, I came back home from a scheduled DIS meet. I was supposed to meet up with others today for a good time at a local waterpark. Instead of enjoying the slides, I come home with a bitter and discontent attitude.

This isn't the first time I've been stood up. I've scheduled DIS meets in the past and I keep on getting stood up. I got tired of it, so I stopped scheduling DIS meets. As I traveled across the country and told of my journeys in different towns, people kept on complaining, "Hey you passed through my town -- why didn't you schedule a meet?" So I started scheduling meets again and began to get stood up again. Sure, I had people attend meets, but the no show percentage was at least 50%. That is, those who said that they would attend a meet didn't even show up.

I give those that say that they will attend my cellphone number, but I never got calls from those who didn't show up telling me there was a problem. I don't know why I invested in a cellphone and voice mail if no one wants to call my number.

I keep my word and attend meets scheduled by others. I don't know why I'm not afforded the same courtesy. At the very least, I think I should get a call if you can't make it. I can understand if last minute things come up. But if I don't get any response, I will have to think that you didn't care enough to keep your word. It's also just plain rude.

I'm sorry Barry. Did you get my PM? Now I feel bad that I probably won't be able to make the Astroworld meet. I promise though that if you can meet for dinner that night, I will be there. Scout's honor. Well, I was never a Scout. What if I swear on Tiger Bear's life.

I'm sorry you were stood up, Barry. That happened to me recently on a cruise ship - where I was the only one from a discussion board that was at the designated meeting place. But please don't stop trying!!!

You're not alone in your frustration Barry. I know that Carl setup his first (and last) DISmeet a couple of years ago. Out of all the people that promised to show up, not one did. I've setup DISmeets at WDW and had very poor attendance. I guess that I've been fortunate that at least one person showed up. At last year's MNSSHP, I was supposed to meet with a group at a specific time, but the time came and went and I was late to the meet. And I found out later that everyone else had shown up at the appointed time and that I was the no-show. How embarrassing.

And now I feel badly that I wasn't able to attend the Atlanta DISmeet and now won't be able to make it to any other DISneets in the forseeable future due to my ankle injury.

Hang in the Barry. It really isn't anything personal. Plans change and sometimes DISmeets suffer as a result.

Barry - I am so sorry - we were surpose to meet at SW last year - I was there 15 minutes early and stayed for 25 minutes - you say you were there - but we didn't see each other - guess next time I need to send a picture - we were waiting in the guest service area - but maybe there were two.

Of course the park was very, very crowded - and after I got looked at fun a couple of times I quit asking people if they were here for the Dis Meet....Sorry.

I am so sorry - I should have called you - but I left the cell phone in the car (I know silly - but that is where it lives) and I was even more stupid I left your cell phone number at home.....

I would like to meet with you....maybe the DVC member meet that is happening in May.....can you come then?

I hate to bring this up and I'm hestiant to, but we were supposed to meet in front of the Information Desk where they hand out maps inside the park, Spiceycat, not in front of Guest Services outside. I even confirmed it with you.

As for the DVC meet, I'd love to meet, but I don't think I'll have the time.

oh boy - did I have the wrong information! - but the guest services we were at - was right next to the maps - so I still don't see how we missed each other - but we did!

well kinda of - where they make dinner resevations was between - but I got up enough and looked all around --- I am so sorry that I missed you!
