Got PAP with DVC offer, now with FP+ maybe regretting

where did you find this - looked for hours and could not find it

so please say!!!

Magic Your Way ticket holders may make FastPass+ selections beginning 60 days prior to day of use. The selection window may vary for other admission tickets or passholders.

in order to book 60 days out, you would need some type of approved ticket media.

Yes I will have to wait until news is released. My concern was that Magic Your Way ticket would still be able to use the current system and the PAP people with the RFID passes would be limited to 3. Yes we would be able to get 3 in advance which would be great but in return we would be limited in the amount of FP+ we can get. Hence my title of regretting the PAP.

One side note on something others have brought up. I thought you needed a reservation to tie the FP+ reservations to, only people staying on property will be able to use My Disney Experience (or what ever that system is called) to book the FP+ in advance. If you are not staying on property you will be able to get them until you enter the park. With Disney peeling back the extra magic hours I thought this was there new "on-site perk". That is why they have updated the online check in to 60 days. So in theory you have a room reserved, you can check in at 60 days and book your FP+ at the same time.

In the beginning this was promoted as a perk for onsite guests...... Oh you can book your Fast Passes before you arrive. Which I kind of agree with, they need to give something to the onsite guests to get them to pay all that money to stay in those hotels. The All star is $167.00 a night :scared1:for nothing fancier then a Days Inn. I am DVC so I am hooked in no matter what they do unless I want to sell.

If this is true AP holders not staying on site would not be able to book them in advance.

I have never seen anything that said this was a Resort guest perk, in fact everything I have read said it wasn't. That this was a park experience tied to your ticket.

But as stated, we simply don't know how it will work right now, and personally I think it will be a long time before we do.

The release will be very, very slow.

As to Extra Magic Hours leaving, that too at this point is rumor. All they have done is remove one night at the Magic Kingdom, the rest is rumor.

Sammie- They have already cut it from 3 hours to 2 hours. Now they are cutting a night at MK.

If advance FP+ reservations are open to everyone why would you want to pay double for a room?

FP+ would be available to everyone in park the same as FP is now.

They cut it back last summer and not a word was said by anyone that it meant they were going to cut it completely out. They have always tweaked the hours.

Personally I would come near thinking they have cut back the MK hours to allow workers in there without guests to work on the roller coaster.

Only time will tell but I would take all rumors with a grain of salt.

Because you asked a question and I answered it. :confused3

want to know where the rules were found - the website - because those were the rules I was looking for and looked in the same place - searched disney site for fast passes + - but now Disney is not showing anything.

so really want the website where this was found.

which leave me to belief that Disney is changing the policies

oh ok, and yes they are still tweaking the entire process and probably will over time. It is a work in progress and will be very slow in coming.

To find it on the website, go to the new website, scroll down and at the bottom on the right side you will see:

This was my impression as well and I took it a step further and assumed that offsite guests would be limited to 3 from whatever was left once they arrived in the park. Have no idea what will actually come to pass but it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

Off-site guests that are using either a MYW ticket or an Annual Pass will be able to schedule FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance. From the Disney FastPass+ section of the Disney Park Experience Terms & Conditions:
Magic Your Way ticket holders and annual passholders may make FastPass+ selections beginning 60 days prior to day of use. The selection window may vary for other admission tickets.

As we don't know how many we will get, when they actually get this thing running, I'm not going to fret about it now. There are 2 parts that bother me. Limiting it to one park per day seems foolish on their part as it could potentially decrease the desire for hoppers or even AP's. Not to mention cramping my touring style in a major way.

The other part I will be very curious to see how logistically they carry out. Currently if you buy a Magic your Way ticket online or over the phone through Disney, all you get is a will call number/receipt to pick it up once you are at the park. While it is non transferable, etc, it isn't the actual ticket number and I wonder how that can be entered/addressed when making these FP+ reservations 60 days out. If it's part of a room package, easy enough and if you bought through a broker and have actual tickets, that's probably easy enough as well.

Same issue on the AP side. I have an AP now, it expires in August. My next trip isn't until Dec. I purchased the DVC PAP but won't be activating it until Dec. All I have is a verbal confirmation code and the assurance that the info is noted in my member account. No actual receipt, per MS they can't generate them (which has also been true for any tours I've booked through them over the phone so I believe them but it's still a bit nerve wracking). Logistically it will be interesting to see how they account for that, when it's not activated yet, meaning I don't have actually have paper passes to convert, despite them being paid for.

It is pretty clear in the T&C that if you want to use FP+, you have to convert to RFID and if you convert you may not use the old FP paper system with the time window limit and no one park restriction, you will be forced into the one park only, limited number system no matter what. Which means in my case at least I won't have a choice since all new tickets issued now are RFID.

I also think it's pretty crummy that if you do online check in with a CC, any child over 10 automatically has charging privileges and you have to then go get it changed. Having that kind of change made at check in would seem to defeat the purpose of an early check in (if "speed" of check in was the purpose).

But, we will see. So much we don't know and the T&C can change at any time.

All purchases require entry of a 4-digit PIN code. Even if a child's card technically has charging privileges, without the PIN code they cannot make a purchase.

As a local with an AP, I disagree.

I see your point, but then what's to keep someone with a valid AP from going on the website and booking every day of the year just because they can and they might go to a park that day. Now I realize this is overreacting and silly and would probably not happen but in theory it could. Similar to the way rude people used to book dining reservations for the same time in 4 different parks and then use only the one for whatever park they were in at the time.:furious:

I'm a passholder too but I run into a sticky situation where every other year we buy our passes when we arrive and then use them again sometime in the next calendar year before they expire. So on my pass buying year I don't have valid ticket media until I arrive, therefore the only recourse for me would be if FP+ was tied to my resort reservation.

I'm not going to get my panties in a wedge over this because I think we'll probably end up with some sort of hybrid system in the end that will cover both types of guests, at least I hope so. If this stays tied to ticket media alone it will be a bummer but I'm a glass half full kind of girl so I'll just wait and see.....

There are rumors that there will be limits on the number of FastPass+ selections that AP holders can make during a quarter. If true, I would suspect (hope) that the limit would not apply when the passholder was making selections as a resort guest.

That would make sense but if resort guest status is otherwise meaningless with regard to FP+, there may not be a viable method to differentiate.
