FINALLY!!! The electronics were replaced as well as the anti-tippers, NOT the frame as they had thought... I guess it was the tippers? Total for repairs were about 2900.00 & American Airlines is paying it without question. In fact the Medical Supply house guy said they've been wonderful to deal with....

The reason for the delay was a backorder at Pride Mobility... But it sure is nice to have it back!! Now I need to decide if I'm going to bring it to Florida in November after this fiasco!!!

That's great news. I'm mulling over bringing my power chair next trip. Maybe we'll drive and not worry about the airlines. I'm happy you got your wheels back.

I am really glad that you got your wheels back and that AA is taking care of everthing without and hassels.

Chris bring it to Florida. YOu will be in good company. I see tons of Jazzys in the parks. I don't know what I would do without my Jazzy. While I would love to be rid of it I know I could go a full day without it at WDW.

Congratulations Chris! I am soo glad everything went smoothly with AA. Btw. How are you feeling as of late? Still need the w/c all the time? I am hoping that you are feeling better, even if it means Furniture hopping;)
Joan

Hi Joan!

I'm actually feeling a bit better, so I'm much better at the furniture walking :D Maybe the trip wore me out more than I thought & that's why I was so bad for a while, but it's so variable anyways, who knows!!!

Nanajo, if you drive, let me know, we'll go with ya ;)

And the more I think about it, I think I will bring the chair to Florida in November, what's the worst that could happen <gulp>... Still going to do it I think!

I'm just so glad to have the chair back, I'm ready to forget about this little setback!!!

I am glad that you got your chair back, and hope that everything goes smoothly from now on. :)

If you do fly and take the chair use AA again. Be sure to remind them of the trouble you had last time. I bet you get treated really well!

Nanajo, with this experience I actually would fly AA again, yes, they broke the chair, but they didn't give us an ounce of trouble about paying for it... The problem is, we have gift certificates for Southwest, so when Southwest releases their November dates, that's who we'll be flying on... I actually trust them NOT to break the chair in the first place, we'll just have to see... We also have a credit on Delta we're going to use (just 100 each), so we're going to take a mini weekend trip on Delta somewhere & believe me I would NEVER NEVER NEVER trust them with my chair, so I'll have my manual for that!!

I'd be interested in knowing how SW does with your chair. I envy your plans for so many trips! Other than in Orlando do you know how to find rental ECVs?

Hi Nanajo,

Well, when we were planning Maui, I just went to yellowpages.com & looked for Medical Supply & other key words.... I also went to yahoo.com & put in keywords like Maui wheelchair rental & looked through the results... Sometimes I had to call one place to be referred to another, but it worked out okay & then I wound up taking my own chair anyways! I think our trips have been just a fluke... we usually just do Disney once a year, but somehow we wound up with all these opportunities for really cheap travel!

Glad to hear everything worked out OK. Good luck on your next trip.

Thanks Sue! We decided to go ahead & book our November trip on Delta with our credit, since they had good rates traveling back from Orlando the Sunday after Thanksgiving... we'll save the Southwest GC's... I have absolutely no faith in Delta whatsoever, but I'm taking my chair... if they break it they'll pay, only they might not be so nice about it :-( Oh well, I'll let ya know how it goes then!!

You are very brave. LOL
I'm upset when school breaks something on DD's powerchair and I rant and rave about not sending it to school any more. I am nowhere near brave enough to send it on an airplane.
Good luck!

Chris,
Will you take pictures of the chair so you can prove it was in good shape prior to the flight? I'm with Sue and still very nervous about taking it on the plane. I couldn't work w/o my chair.

Hi Nanajo,

I'm going one step further than taking pictures... I'm going to bring it back to the shop for them to review it & to give it a clean bill of health... that way when the airline wrecks it again, I'll have indisputable proof that it was in perfect shape!!!!
