Hello All,

Long time listener but first time poster here.

I have been watching the Poly posts regarding the overbooking, as I am sure most others have. I thought I might be immune from the moves as we have 5 in our party and I thought that it would cost too much to move a party of 5 to another resort. Well, I guess I was wrong. We had an AAA discount on 11/8 and an annual pass holder rate for the rest of our trip 11/9 thru 11/15. Because of the two rates, we had two reservation confirmations and that raised the red flag, I guess.

Ironically, I have been going through some cardiology testing and today I was recovering from yesterday's catherization when the call came. The Contemporary tower was offered as a replacement for our first night. Well, knowing this call may come, I had done a great deal of thinking on the matter and had considered some alternatives that I would consider; but under the circumstances all manner of reasoning on my part was non-existent, and I took the offer.

After hanging up the phone, I thought, "what the heck have I done." This is not the place I would like to be. I must say it is not Disney's fault, they made a very polite and cordial call and I agreed to the change.

Anyway, the reason for my post is that I found it humorous when someone said they were watching their caller id for a Florida number... guess it’s not so funny now. They are still making the calls.

With Kind Regards,

BrianC

Welcome Brian!

So did you accept the CR tower? I take it they will be moving you back to the Poly for the remainder of your stay.

The CR is a beautiful resort. We really loved our stay. We were in the wings and had a perfect view of the fireworks from our room.

Hope you have a nice trip.

Hope you are feeling better...at least it wasn't for your entire stay..pack an overnite bag for that first nite and enjoy your trip!

Well, here's to hoping you feel great, soon.

Hope your vacation is the best yet...

Did the CM know that the move was breaking up your trip? There should be a bonus in that for you! I pray that your test comes back clean and that you have a wonderful trip!

Aww sorry PizzaMan ~ so many people have been affected by this overbooking and displacement. :(

Good luck with your tests and I hope you have a great holiday.

>>^..^<<

Brian, welcome to the DIS! Good luck with your tests.

Very sorry to hear that you were "walked." I am glad it's just your first night however. Have you ever stayed at the CR?

Since your first night reservation is already disjoint from your remaining nights, you can't expect to keep the same room nor can you expect the second room to be ready as soon as you check out of the first..

(copied from another post)

But you certainly deserve comparable savings. We are not talking AP rate or AAA rate or availability or blackout. Rather ot sjpi;d be at least the same percentage off the five person rack rate as was the original room, or the same number of dollars you are paying now whichever is less.

I am so sorry to hear Disney got you while you were down. Hearing all these stories makes me want to pursue saving money on my next trip and staying elsewhere maybe. Why pay extra for Disney only to find you are being shoved to a hotel you had no intention of staying in.

Welcome. however, the CT tower is nice. I hope they maybe you would be able to stay at the Poly the res of your trip.

Thanks for all the kind words. For now we are just going to roll with the punches. It is somewhat of a disappointment in that we have been to the Contemporary and although it is such a nice resort, it is just not our kind of place. Kind of like going out to eat where you don't care for the food.

But......it is disney and that makes it a woderful world.

Kind Regards

Brian

The Contemporary Tower will certainly give you a nice room. Please keep in mind that while many of the Tower rooms face the MK, some do not. You may want to call back and ask if they can guarantee you a MK view because of your inconvenience. There is nothing like waking up in the morning and opening your curtains to reveal a prime view of the MK, the lagoon and the monorail track to put you in the Disney mood. You also would get a wonderful view of the fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant at night. I doubt that they will guarantee you a MK view, but if you call back they may make a note of your circumstances and do their best to provide it. Best of luck.

Do you know what is strange about all these relocations...the folks are told they do not have a choice but all three were located at different resorts.

Faithfull, as a guess, they are probably spreading the overflow around.

I figured that out. All I am saying that instead of assigning folks to all these various resorts, the folks would have felt much better about selecting from the list which was used to assign. The folks assigned to the Contemporary may have loved the AKL and vice versa.

Brian,

Sorry to hear you got "the call". I was the one who posted about my sister who received the first eviction notice, I like that term. We have 4 nights Poly WV and 5 nights BWI WV starting in 20 days. Our reservation was through SoG for the Armed Forces Salute. I'd really hate to have my son put on his uniform and just show up at the Poly and create a scene, but I think I just might.

Whenever we have a late arriving flight we stay offsite the first night and check-in early. Think of your first night at CR as a really nice temporary room and enjoy your stay.
