Just walked around the nieghborhood and snapped some shots. Left it on Auto until I read the manual and start messing with the manual setting. I think I will get used to it for a while on Auto though.

I know I have a lot to learn about DSLR's,,,,am looking forward to it. Thanks to everyone who gave advice and helped with my decision on what to get.:thumbsup2

Looks like you're well on your way!! Those look nice!

Keep shooting, that's the best way to learn.

even more impressive than the photos is you have grass in AZ.... :)

I think Pentax is taking over around here. :scared1:

Nice shots and congrats on the buy. :thumbsup2

Great shots!!! Thank you for sharing. If you are like me, you will love the new camera.

Thanks Kevin. If I remember correctly we have the same lenses. I have not tried the two others that I have yet, so far sticking witht eh kit lens.

Nice pictures!

I recently got a Pentax K110D, I wanted the K100D but it was free from a rewards program so I can't complain :) I haven't had a chance to play with mine yet, hopefully this weekend I'll find some time.

Looks great! Obviously it's still on the "vivid" setting... I set mine to "natural" (I don't think you can even do that in full auto mode) but I will occasionally flip over to vivid if I want really vibrant colors, unfortunately everything around us has been dull and gray and blah for months so there's hardly any color to brighten up anyway. :)

Anyway, congrats, those are really nice, especially for your first time out.

Slowly but surely... :thumbsup2

Nice pics. Great choice of camera. I picked up the same camera around christmas. The book does say alot it helped me alot. I think lol. Keep shooting but be warned it's addictive and you will want to spend more money for more stuff.

Groucho,

I looked for "vivid" and "natural" modes in the manual. I found all kinds of modes but not those, like I said I still have a LOT to learn. I would prefer natural mode so I will hunt around for it.:confused3

You'll find it on page 114.:)

You're welcome, and nice pictures, I like #2. We're making our first trip to AZ in late June, every time I see pictures taken in AZ I look forward to it that much more!!

June....well it will be nice and warm for you, probably in the low 100's (105-115), depending on which part of AZ that is. Where are you visiting if you don't mind my asking?

I live in Chandler. If you like to play golf you can get some great deals at the clubs in the valley. This is the course that I live at.

Have a great trip.:cool1:

We're flying into PHX and we'll be staying in Sedona for the week (with one night at the Grand Canyon in Kachina Lodge). We're not golfers, one of these days maybe, but thanks for the links anyway.

I'm trying to prepare myself for the heat but we wanted to plan the trip after our DD13 was out of school for the summer since we already took her out of school for one vacation this school year. We're planning for early morning sightseeing trips.:) I haven't been able to use my K100 a whole lot even though I've had it for 6 months now (I hibernate in the winter months!!) so I'm really looking forward to using it on this trip, we're also going to CA for the first time to spend a few days with my sister before we fly to PHX so I should have plenty of photo opportunities.

Congratulations on the purchase! I purchased my K100D last January and I am very happy with my camera. I am eagerly learning the skills necessary to use my camera to its fullest. Like today, I have read the manual and completely forgot about the Image Tone feature mentioned earlier in this thread. Thanks for sharing!

You will have great opportunities for photots in Sedona. Have a great trip and make sure you post some pic when you get back.

Nice pictures. Excellent job for the first day. Keep up the good work. We are expecting a lot more from you now. :teeth:
