I called yesterday morning at 9:00 and got my ressie for the first week of june at Hilton Head in a 2br. It will be our first time there.

Any pointers? We have 4 boys ages 8, 11, 13 and 16.

We were there last June. HHI is one of our wildlife getaways. Here are some pics to get the juices flowing.

thanks for the pics.....is the first week of june a good time to go? Is the ocean water warm enough for swimming?

We've gone at the beggining of June twice and the water was fantastic! I would head to the South Beach Marina (if you have a car) to the Salty Dog. There is something for all your boys, live music, resteraunts, ice cream, pizza, boats to look at, shops. My kids enjoyed it alot. At HH resort, there is always something to do too...campfire with songs, ping pong, swimming, they have lots of activities to do. You'll get a sheet at check in and they had a board by the pool too. We also did a dolphin watching cruise and the kids loved it! They swam right next to the boat!

I agree... early June is great... not really into tropical storm season yet, the water is warm enough to swim, many schools still in session. You picked a great time to go to HHI.

I hope you have allocated points for a return visit every year. Last year was our first time (last week in May) and I can't wait to go back. I never paid much attention to the HHI threads on this board but finally decided to give it a try. Now I read every HHI post. Your boys will be bugging you to return--trust me. The 5 year old who came with us last year talks more about HHI than WDW.

We'll be there that week as well with our kids 9(DD) and 7(DS).
We booked at 11 months, but my brother and SIL just booked their 1 bedroom yesterday and got it no problem, I was so relieved.
It is a fabulous time to go, we've been a few times that week, including this past June.

You'll get an activity sheet when you check in, look it over and see what you want to do, and what the kids want to do, there is a ton of stuff each day to choose from.

You can do kayaking(we don;t because I am afraid of sharks:lmao: ), there is basketball, shuffleboard, ping pong, bikes-we always rent bikes, it's a lot of fun.

They have arts and crafts, and fun educational things like a beach nature walk(we always do that one) or learning about dinosuars(the kids loved it) or dolphins or alligators. There's a pool party on Thursday, campfires a few times a week.
You can be as bust or as lazy as you want there, it is our favorite place to be.

Congrats on your reservations! I just looked up the average temp for May/June, and your weather should be in the mid to upper 80s. Also, the average rainfall is lower for June, and the average water temp for May/June is upper 70s - low 80s.

We live in central OH, and have a pool. We keep our pool heated during the summer, and set it on 82 or 83. At 85, it's close to bath water. You can swim even when its really cool outside when the water is 85.

Based on all of that, I think it will be great time to go!

Rob - beautiful pictures! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to try HH sometime soon. We've got reservations this summer for VB (2-BR), and I can't wait. Maybe we'll try HH next summer (if I can get a reservation).

We were there in June and are going back Thanksgiving week. A great place for a relaxing vacation that has enough activities for the kids and and the best CMs anywhere.

Congratulations on getting your reservation!:thumbsup2 I will be calling in next week for a two bedroom from June 7 - 12th. I am looking so forward to a relaxing vacation.

Last year we went to WDW with 13 family members and while I have many many wonderful memories from that trip it wasn't very relaxing. It was run, run, run. And most of the people hadn't visitied in 5 years so I did alot of the planning and explaning.

We may take Grandma with us in June to HH or our grown kids, but I doubt they will be able to make it as one will be getting married in May and the other is still in college and trying to finish so he and his significant other can get married.

Did you like HHI enough to buy points there? I am going down next Sat. for 4 days, and fear I'll want to add on!

We can't afford the dues on more points but we don't plan to visit HHI during the busiest time (summer). We prefer sometime in spring or fall, so I am hopeful of being able to get something at 7 months, either cash or points. Minnesota has lovely summers and LONG winters, so we like to use our points to escape the cold. I had better stop raving about HHI or everyone will discover this gem and I won't be able to get in!

We will be there from 5/28-6/4. We have three kids 6,9 and 11. We are excited about it too. It will be our first time there.:)

Those are also my plans for HHI....it seems like most have had success at 7 mos. except for the summer(which I won't be visiting then anyway). I'm going next week. I'll report on the weather, you may also want to visit in November too! :wizard:

We're going the last week of June! It will be our third year! We love it and are grateful to the good Disers who have rented us points each year so that we can go......just not a good time to buy more points....but we love HHI!

From a local point of view.

Get Skin-so-Soft to keep the bugs away.

It's gonna be hot, so, plan accordingly.

If you and your's have a pollen problem, be prepared.

Keep an eye on the tropical weather, if they say 'Evacuate' do so. Most of HH south of Broad River (the river that the resort is on) is no more than 4 feet above sea level.

(That's the bad stuff)

We have a good Minor League Baseball team here in Savannah. It's not a long drive.

There is LOTS to do around the resort, on HH, and in Savannah that will keep the kids entertained.

There is good food everywhere, take your pick!

Enjoy!

Just got a 2 bedroom this morning at 7months out!! I'm so excited. We were there the first week of June and now are going back in 09!:woohoo:
HHI first week of June was awesome. No crowds, warm ocean temp and the resort wasn't totally full. We had a studio before and will be happy with the bigger room for a full kitchen. We are taking my sister and family with this time.
HHI is so relaxing and enjoyable. DS is 7 and did a few activities at the resort, we did the dolphin cruise, campfire and Star Spangled Tues (lots of fun). DS loved the slide at the pool too. We like to bike ride and rode bike most of the time.
