I just got my new Disney Rewards Visa....and while the look of the card isn't the reason we got it, it is quite ugly.

I'd thought we'd get a decent DVC logo as well as a decent "Day One" bug, but these two items are merely silver embossed lettering on the card. The design is a beveled Mickey Head (flat, looks beveled) with some stars and the cursive Disney logo...done in red and black. Lots of red...wifey-poo said it looks garish enough to use in certain establishments that are only legal in certain counties in Nevada. :smooth:

Anyone else request two cards and only get one? Wifey-poo's didn't come in the package that came in my name.

It's just a card, lol. My GM Card is quite ugly, I guess, but I never thought about it until now. I'm surprised by how many people are complaining about the look of a credit card. (For the record, I kind of like it, lol.)

I think I read somewhere that only the primary cards were sent out in the first batch. ??

DH and I applied for our cards as soon as possible and still haven't received them. How long is it taking to receive the card?

Thanks

I signed up and was told I would receive an e-mail when I can apply. I had never received it. Can anybody provide me with the link/number to apply.

I got my card the other day, too. My wife's didn't come yet. I think the card looks just fine. I don't place too much importance on the look. I like the color red, so it suits me just fine :)

Well, someone obviously designed the card and someone approved it, so to me if someone is going to the trouble of doing all that, at least it could look somewhat classy and tasteful. :) Normally, I could care less what something as trivial as a CC looks like, but I've never had a card I thought was ugly before. :)

Well, this will make wifey-poo happy to hear...just didn't sit well that I got my new Disney Visa and my new ATM card on the same day and she got neither.

Given that we live minutes from Delaware and applied early, I'm guessing I got my card the day after it went into the mail....in something like 14 days turn around time between application and first charge. :)

My card didn't come yet. But I did receive a call from BankOne last week because I already have a BankOne card with a very high credit line. They wanted to move some of that credit onto the Disney card......so I switched $1000 only since there doesn't seem to be as much of a benefit as with my Southwest Visa.

I recieved my card yesterday, but also did not recieve my wife's card. Called customer service and was told that she was on the electronic application I submitted, but didn't "know" why it wasn't mailed together. She did say I could activate my card, and I reminded her that didn't think it wouldn't be advisable to tell anyone to activate a joint account while only in possession of one card and the other in the mail. She said her card would be mailed 1st class mail and recieved in 5-7 business days.

I would guess that the application process program was flawed and it only processed the main applicants cards since it seems that there are several accounts with this problem already. I would advise calling customer service before they become "swamped" and not activating your account until you have both cards in your possession.

Question: Has anyone found out if having the "DVC" printed on the card holds any significance such as not needing our official DVC card to recieve 10% off at The Disney Store or other discounts we are able to recieve with the DVC card itself?

I don't like the look of money. Too green and all those dead presidents......but it gets me what I want!:) :) :) :)

They had a computer gliche, the spouse cards are being mailed separately.

What comes in the mail today, as I patiently wait for my new Disney Visa to arrive?
The letter that others have received, telling me that the card I ordered for DW will show up in about two weeks.
It even listed the last 4 numbers of the card that I have not yet set eyes upon   :p

I don't know... I can't think of any reasons why anyone would get this card besides the looks?

Do some homework and check out Bank One. You then might think twice about that new Disney Visa.

Well I got it and I'm using it and here's why. I want a card that gives points (even 1% is better than nothing). I've looked around at other options. I don't fly, so one that gives FF miles does me no good. I do have an SPG card that gives discounts at Swan and Dolphin, but after this June probably won't stay there again in a while. So why not get one that will at least give me some (albeit small) benefit for getting something free at a Disney store. We're heading out on several trips over the next few months and will probably charge $2,000-3,000. That will give me enough Disney points to at least get a free DVD or CD at my local Disney store. Better than getting nothing is the way I look at it.

I can understand the better something than nothing argument. Sorry, I guess I'm just stuck on the point that we got a better deal with Amex + disney club - the Amex card has a one point per one dollar rewards, and when it was the official card you could use those points for disney stuff (tickets, etc.) Combine that with the discounts on water craft (which I enjoyed), dining, purchases at wod (20%) and it was pretty nice.

With this new card, the point structure is 1%, and in "doing my research" I can't find what value those magical points will have - is it dollar for dollar? The discounts are pretty sparse; 10-50 on total packages is insulting. One could do so much better just booking a room (with all the discounts especially) and buying tickets.

I guess there is some advantage to the book now, no interest for 6 months, but again, I think that is only packages, too. I'd just as soon book now, pay one night, and then pay the rest after I check out! Or use dvc points of course - my point is, I don't see the advantage there over the past systems.

I also enjoyed the disney club discount on tickets, disney magazine, etc. My research doesn't turn those up from this card.

I guess the $50 credit on cruises is nice for those who cruise; I'm not sure what the disney club or amex rewards for those were, not having been interested. There is something for Broadway, which isn't in my current plans.

Despite all the reports of wonderful new rewards programs for frequent customers, it is difficult for me to see how this beats the situation with disney club + Amex, at least for me. I do see the advantage for Disney, they make a few percent profit with every use of the card. And I see the advantage to Bank 1. I think it is pretty egregious of Disney to do this, when they are going to cut out those "loyal customers" who don't have the desire to get a credit card, let alone those without credit history. They've cut them right out. This is much more of a commitment for those customers than simply paying a few dollars annually for the disney club, and a greater profit for disney. Plus, it gives Disney another way to push travel company packages, which have recieved such a lackluster response from those "frequent guests." I really don't see that as the type of reward program that was discussed at the stock meeting a year ago.

Couple this now with all the problems I've seen on these boards - no second cards, telling people to re-apply for credit (and take the hit on their credit ratings!) if they didn't get the dvc logo, counting people's applications twice (also at a hit to their credit report, presumably), etc., I don't see a lot of good customer service reasons to apply.

So, I'm left thinking the only reason to apply for this, at least for me, would be the looks of the card and having "DVC DAY 1" stamped on it. Perhaps there are some advantages I missed in this homework? Please convince me -

They have not come out with all the special offers yet. They've mentioned ways to double or triple rewards points, and if you log onto the website for your account there are about 6 categories of special offers, although some have yet to have any offers entered into those categories. I have to think however that they will be coming out with offers soon, or why set those up?

As far as the customer service issues go, that's Bank One, not Disney, and could have happened no matter which bank they went with.

I think it's too early to tell. This card probably needs to be out for a year before it can be properly judged.
