Ok, so dd is 3 (in august) and since spring of 2008 we have been working on the whole potty training thing. We went to Disney and tried to pull the "Mickey Mouse would be happy if you used the potty at WDW and not a diaper." No go.
But about 3 weeks ago MIL was talking to dd about Santa and said "Santa would be so happy if you would use the potty before he brings you toys and candy"
And I swear, she had a "ah-ha" moment, asked to put on her big girl panties that afternoon and she was done with the diapers!
Which in turn she says "I use the potty like a big girl, I gonna get toys and candy from Santa!" Yes she is!! LOL And some new big girl undies!
YEAH! No more diapers!!!!

Your child's little body will not be big enough for the sensor to recognize that they are still sitting down. Trust me. I speak from experience. At one point in our vacation, the toilet flushed while my DS was still sitting, and it set him back about 6 months before he would even consider using a bathroom with an automatic flusher. He would walk into a bathroom, check to see if it was an automatic flusher, and turn right around if it was. He'd rather hold it! It was torture! So be prepared to cover the sensor. The best thing to do is bring some small stickers or sticky notes to cover it, which will free up your hands to support your child on the seat. I also carried around a child size portable/foldable seat in a ziplock baggie.
How frustrating!
