Boy I've missed this place!! Had my right hip replaced exactly 4 weeks ago today!! Can't believe the progress I've made!! Nothing at all like the first one 8 years ago...so much less pain and so much more mobility at this point!!

But now I'm concentrating on getting stronger so I can walk through my "happy place" come October and enjoy the sights and sounds of the place I so dearly love.

So for now I'll catch up on everyone's posts and start my planning!!!!:thumbsup2

SO happy to hear enjoy your stay in Oct! I have a friend going for hip replacement in July and I am so hoping she will have a good experience! She has had to cancel her recent vacations because the pain is just too much!:grouphug:

I found some clip art appropriate to this thread! :)

I totally understand her having to cancel her trip. I wish her well in July and not for nothing, if she has any questions please feel free to PM me with them. While this one was amazingly different from the first; the basics are the same.

I found some clip are appropriate to this thread! :)

Thanks Bobbi...how are you???

Thanks! I'm in my planning mode now along with recovery mode! :rotfl:

Well Mrs. WDW, it's sure a catchy title!

Looking forward to WDW can only help your recovery go that much faster! It's amazing the innovations medicine has made with hip & knee replacements!

From one "hippy" to another: You can do it!!! Enjoy that new freedom of pain free movement!

Love this. I'm having a procedure done next week (conscious sedation)....will think of this rather than about the very large needle and lasers (you get the idea).

To the OP--- congratulations. Keep up the great attitude and you'll be fine in no time

My new knees sure make it easier to walk around WDW and to climb the stairs at OKW. Isn't modern medicine great? Enjoy your trip. And be sure to enjoy some of the great food and drink at the Food & Wine Festival.

Advanced hip arthritis is one of the most painful and disabling conditions. And most pain meds don't even touch it! I'm always amazed at how well the folks I take care of do after replacement --- and how quickly they are doing well! Most of them wish they had done it sooner.

Enjoy your new freedom and your "happy place"!!

Wishing you a wonderful trip this fall. As a physical therapist it sounds like you are doing a hell of a job recovering. A positive attitude is the best medicine. Fall will be here before you know it! Am sure you will be dancing around the world in no time!!!

Quick follow up:

Doing very well...walking in the house without my cane; slowly and carefully. But when I go downstairs I must have it for balance as the streets here in NYC are not only crowded but uneven! :lmao:

It's been 8 weeks since the surgery and I'm now totally confident my trip in October will be great. I'll have my fold up cane just incase the ole knees ache, but as for the hip....it'll be GREAT!!

Time to count down the days now!! :thumbsup2

Me too :thumbsup2 and I totally agree about modern medicine.

Congratulations Ms.WDW; it really is a great feeling to be going back with restored mobility and pain free :)

Congratulations....living with a man who has been putting off surgery for over 2 years....we will be at WDW/BLT in 3 weeks....I hope he is okay.....
But he goes to the gym 5 days a week...

How can I encourage him to look into the surgery and get it done. He looks in pain every time he gets up after sitting for a while and limps when walking quickly......He's a Brooklyn attorney....yeah NYC!!:thumbsup2

I hope you get to the world soon.....

Congrats again...thanks for sharing your progress.
