I just booked my 1st stay at OKW for October. AKV is my home resort and I LOVE it, but since we are staying there with family in May we decided to try something different for a fall visit. We had visited OKW in Nov. and thought it might be the perfect place for an adult only trip for a little "r&r" for DH and me. No early calls for frantic rope drops, coffee on the balcony, reading at the quiet pool, maybe rent a boat for a while, etc. I requested Turtle pond area due to advise here. Got my fingers crossed we get a nice relaxing, quiet, pleasant view.

Congratulations on your reservation. You sited all the reasons Old Key West is still my favorite resort.

Enjoy your vacation.

Robert

Your OKW trip sounds great! It's nice to have that to look forward to :goodvibes

We usually stay at Boardwalk Villas....can you tell me what makes OKW so nice for an Adult get-away?

Congrats. We just booked a couple of studios at OKW for our last night in October, after we get off our Disney cruise. We stayed there back in 2008 and loved it - it's so laid back. I am really looking forward to ending our October trip there :)

I can't answer yet because this will be our 1st stay there, but we chose it because of our visit last Nov. and the comments on this site. We are adult only this trip ( early 60's - empty nesters), and are looking for quiet, relaxing atmosphere with no early morning rope drops, quiet patio in the morning and evening, easy access parking since we will have a car, and liked the ambiance when we walked around. We love AKV and Boardwalk with kids and grandkids, but for just us we are looking for a more laid back place. :flower3:

We own at BWV's and if we don't want "commando" we stay at OKW. It really is my 2nd favorite resort. I find that its more of a "resort" atmosphere as opposed to the hustle and bustle of some of the other disney resorts.

We have gone to OKW and not visited the parks at all. We love the pool atmosphere along w/ the music etc. There are many places to ride bikes, the boat ride to Downtown Disney.

Balconies and rooms are bigger and roomier. We usually have a car (parked right in front of the villas) and go offsite to eat. I could probably go on ;) but I'll stop here.

Yes, my wife and I added on at OKW with adults only trips in mind. We also own another timeshare in the islands that we love but the costs to add on there are crazy so we thought with a fraction of that money we would add on at OKW. In about 10years or so we'll be retired, we can head down stay at OKW for a week or so then hop over to our other timeshare stay there two weeks then fly back to OKW and stay until we run out of points. While at OKW we can entertain guests and do the parks if we choose but mostly enjoy the resort.

Congrats, I hope you'll enjoy our favorite resort! We are going 1st week of June when I will finally get to see the refurb for myself, I'm so looking forward to it!

Add us to the list who also choose OKW when we are looking for a nice relaxing visit. While I own at several resorts, I stayed at OKW for 2 weeks in January and it was a very relaxing visit. We love the parking there too. We were at HH in building 12, so an easy walk to the main pool, but the main pool is not very quiet nor relaxing, but we were OK, because it was cool most days, so not alot of swimmers. We have choosen OKW as our after cruise resort too.

I love OKW and always ask to stay in the Turtle Pond area. Love the pool in that area.

I just booked our one bedroom for October too - can't wait! We were going to try Kidani this year, but we voted and decided we love OKW too much - there is so much more room there, and our large patio is a lot like an extra room that we spend a lot of time on. I also love the full-size laundry room and the golf and water views from our balcony. We'll be there Oct. 24-Nov. 4 and are also doing the Halloween party.

We will be back home at OKW in May to see the Epcot flower show. The size of the villas and renovations are beautiful. My favorite part of OKW is the palm trees. I always say, "OKW is sultry, tropical and enchanting." Enjoy!

we just changed our October reservation from Kidani (our home resort) to OKW. We want to try all the DVC resorts. What can anyone tell me about it? Is it similar to SSR- we stayed there last December. Needless to say, we are excited about it!!

Hi CocosMeme,
Congrats on your reservation! :woohoo: OKW is great for all the reasons you mentioned and perfect for an adults only trip. October is also a really good time to be in Orlando as the weather is usually very nice. Have a great trip. :thumbsup2
