My company sent me flowers for my b'day (from another state), yayyy! The delivery man handed them to me, smiled, and left. Might have had something to do with the fact that the wind kept blowing my door ajar, and my large lab was barking and trying to push his way out, LOL! I feel bad I didn't get to tip him. How bad is that? If it was a local florist I recognized, I would drop by & leave a few $, but never heard of them.

I don't tip for floral delivery. I'm never expecting it when they come and don't have money in my pocket. I've never had a floral delivery person ever look like he was waiting around on a tip, they usually just want to be friendly, hand off the flowers and get on their way.
Don't worry about it.
Enjoy your flowers:goodvibes and Have a Happy Birthday

I believe most, if not all, florists charge a delivery fee, which I assume also includes the tip for the delivery person, but I could be wrong. Anyone know something to the contrary? :confused3

I know when I order flowers locally that they include the tip in the delivery charge. The philosphy is the recipient doesn't know he/she will be receiving flowers and may not have the funds available at that moment.

I know people who seriously do not use cash--everything is credit or debit card. If they have $2 in their pocket/wallet, it's a minor miracle! *LOL*

I've always tipped for floral deliveries but am starting to think I'm in the major minority. When my coworker had flowers delived to her, but wasnt in the lab, I gave the delivery guy a tip - as my usual - and she thought that was SOOO strange and never considered repaying me (which was no big deal at all - I'd do it the same if it happened again.) I'm pretty sure those guys do get minimum wage (or darn close...)and no share of the delivery fee.....(I think that's strictly for gas - or thats what the pizza guy told me.) I so :cloud9: getting flowers that I want to share a little of the joy w/the delivery person.:goodvibes

:dance3: :dance3: Happy Birthday!!!! :dance3: :dance3:

I never tip flower people...of course I haven't had flowers sent to me in a while....

But you know what? I should and I shall from now on. I tip everyone else in a service-type job.

I only tip people I am expecting, like the furniture, appliance or pizza delivery guys :confused3 .

I usually tip a couple of bucks for the flower delivery person if the flowers are for me.

Lately, they've been for my neighbor who's not home during the day and the delivery person just goes to the neighbors ringing doorbells till they find someone home. Then I become the delivery person once they get home from work.
It's nice for her but it's starting to annoy me so I no longer open my door to anyone unless I'm in a bad mood. :rotfl2:
I kinda feel bad for the carpet cleaner who came door to door yesterday. NOT. :lmao:

You are not meant to tip for a gift delivery. Don't worry about it. :)

I've never tipped flower delivery people (not that I've had more than two or three!).

I've always tipped for floral deliveries but am starting to think I'm in the major minority.
i'm with you:thumbsup2
many delivery ppl make minimum wage (or near it) & depend on the tips (from what i understand, ups, etc being the exception). unfortunately, i'm one of those "no cash" people also, so don't always have any handy for unexpected deliveries.

it was a happy surprise, & since you have no way to get a tip to him, don't worry about it. have a wonderful birthday :bday:
