I got my ME stuff in the mail today!!! Only thing is, they sent us the departure tags, and there were no tags for our arrival!! Could this be because we have a room-only ressie booked for the first night of our stay?? I thought that room-only ressie people got to use ME too, am I wrong?? Shouldn't I be able to use Magical Express for both ways, to the resort and back to the airport?? I'm going to call in the morning, I just wanted to know what you guys thought...

A coupla things here ...

It makes no difference whether you have a package or not. DME is for people who are registered guests at a WDW owned-and-operated resort. PERIOD.

There are no such things as "departure tags." There are no luggage tags for us to put on our luggage when we are LEAVING WDW to go home. No such thing. DME doesn't work that way.

When you ARRIVE at MCO, they need your luggage specially-tagged so they know to pull it from the rest of the luggage, and then know where to send it.

When you LEAVE WDW, your luggage goes one of two ways, and neither way would benefit from you having any sort of special tags on your bags. If you are lucky enough to be flying a "participating airline" and can use Resort Airline Check-In (RAC), they will put an actual airline tag on your bag, the exact tag that gets put on when you check in at the airport, the white sticky thing around your luggage handle that has the 3-letter airport code on it. They know where to send the bag from there because it's tagged with the actual airline/TSA tag it will need.

If you are not flying a RAC participating airline, you will take your luggage to the DME bus with you. The driver will load it onto the bus, and then will unload it for you at the airport. From that point, the luggage is yours to handle just like any other time you arrive at any other airport. This luggage never gets any sort of DME tag on it, because it is in your possession and doesn't need to be identified except for your own purposes to make sure it's yours. It will eventually be tagged by the airline when you check in for your flight, just like every other flight you've ever taken.

I hope that understanding the system helps you understand that there's no such thing as DME luggage tags for departure from WDW.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I'm assuming that you got yellow luggage tags for your arrival into MCO and transport to your resort. You only need one set of tags. There are no tags for your return to MCO for your flight home. Your tags should list your arrival day and the name of your resort..the resort you will be going to directly from MCO. If the tags do not have the correct resort on them, give them a call and double check.
When you are ready to depart, at the end of your stay, you can do one of two things..if you are on a flight home with a participating airline, you can go to the resort offsite checkin desk, get your boarding passes, and check your luggage. This can be done no less than 3 hrs before your flight though. Then you can take the DME bus back to MCO or use any other mode of transport. If you do not have a flight on a participating airline, you just take your luggage to the DME bus and it will be put under the bus and you hop on and off you go.
Hope this answered your question...if not, ask again..we'll try to get it right.

You know..I have to wonder here, after reading another post of yours about this same thing. Could they have just messed up your arrival resort? Where are you staying on your first night? And where do you go to after that? Which resort is listed on the yellow tags?

Actually, the OP is correct. I received two separate DME envelopes in the mail, one dated for my arrival and another dated for my departure. I would certainly call just to make sure that Disney knows that you're travelling both ways.

There are no tags for your departure from WDW. Now, DME could have misprinted tags and sent them out, in error. DME has nothing to do with transporting bags for your departure from WDW. Other than putting your bags underneath the DME bus for your return to MCO..that's it. Tags for bag transportation are used only for arrivals at MCO for the start of your WDW resort stay.
You will get a voucher for your bus ride back to MCO.

If you got one set of tags and vouchers for your arrival day and another set of tags and vouchers for your departure home day, then the latter set of tags was sent in error.

After you get there, remove the yellow tags from your baggage. They are not used any more.

If you did not arrange and get it sooner (usually hanging on the room door day before departure) make sure you have your return bus time in writing a day before checkout/departure. Your bus time should be about 3 hours before flight time, or more if you requested. Much closer to flight time is an erroneous oversight and you should have it corrected.

maybe this might help clear something up.... lol.. it was late last night, sorry!

ok, we are arriving on 8/12... the yellow tags I got in the mail, the date is 8/20, not 8/12. thats why i thought that they were tags for our departure..?? should the tags say 8/12 on them or does that really even matter?

The tags should have your date of arrival on them. If you are arriving on 8/12, at MCO, then that's what DME should have in the system for your arrival. I would call them, just to be on the safe side, to find out what date they have you arriving.

Yes, call to have your correct date of arrival registered, but if you don't get new yellow tags in time, you can still use the tags you got. Be sure to bring the matching vouchers and booklet and your resort resrvation sheet.

Only if the resort name is incorrect is it desirable to write different information on the yellow tag. Baggage won't be held at the airport simply because the date is wrong.
