Got COVID-19 during first home resort visit :-(

I am sorry you are sick and I hope you feel better soon. It’s never fun to be sick on vacation.

I caught the fever and chills flu while at WL many years ago, and couldn’t get out of bed (except to crawl to the bathroom) for three days. I was there solo, and had been assigned an accessible room with a roll in shower that had a seat, and the room had grab bars everywhere. Someone was really looking out for me when that room was assigned. To this day, I make sure I pack OTC meds and the makings for tea, because I needed them so badly on that trip and didn’t have them.

OMG, that's my biggest fear at WDW-getting sick when I'm solo.

Reading through this and learning how easy it is to pick up Covid at WDW gives me pause about the trip we were planning with 7 month old DGD.

Add us to the list of positive cases coming home from Disney. We were at CCR/WLV for 9 nights starting June 20th. Our DD16 started having congestion two days before we left. Our DS's best friend was with us and tested every day. All negative. Wednesday the 29th we tested before checking out and doing the 15+ hr drive home. All negative. Around 11:45pm, as we were unpacking at home DD, for fun, sticks the thermometer in her mouth and she has a low-grade fever. The next two days she tests negative.

By Sunday morning at 8am DS who lives in his own home texted the group he is positive for Covid. I woke up my DD and tested her and low and behold the fastest I have ever seen a test come back positive. Both have been in isolation since. Even symptom free my DD refuses to risk infecting her dad and I, we are both high risk. Our local health dept said she could come out of her room but she is refusing until she tests negative. Our DS is the same he won't come to our house and risk seeing us even though his symptoms are gone.

Neither are high risk nor got Pavloid and both seem to have recovered well. DD still tests positive as of this morning but the line was very faint so it must be moving out of her system.

One interesting thing to me is her pediatrician expressed the need for her to have her own bathroom and us not cross contaminate, always using gloves when transfering items. I am glad we were not all in Disney sharing a bathroom.

Our other DD gets married the 16th and two members of the bridal party, plus my kids have tested positive. It is a destination wedding so I am crossing my fingers we can get through that without issues.
Yikes, sorry to hear that. I too stayed at CCR on June 20th. Tested positive on June 22 and had to stay in the room. I’m glad the symptoms didn’t start for your family until after getting home.

My 15 hour drive with covid was not fun, even though my symptoms were mild.

I consider us lucky we got home before it hit our household. I am glad to hear you and the family made it home. Luckily our DD was a passenger in the back on the drive home and slept most of the way home when she was feeling to worst.

Hope you fully recover!

Have not had COVID. My NYC nurse wife did, took care of her for two weeks back in March 2020 but never caught it. Just lucky. That was the first strain. Now worried about staying at Disney in August considering the new B5 variant.

Three of us were at Disneyland in January right after the new year. Wore KN95's, washed hands like crazy. DD woke up the day we were scheduled to leave with symptoms and tested positive in the hotel room. Husband and I were symptomatic the next day. Thankfully we are all vaxed and it was mild. We were SO careful from the beginning but Omicron finally got us. I'm thankful we got our March DLR trip in and our Aulani May vacation in without incident.

I'm sure you have recovered. Hope it wasn't too bad for you.

I came home with it in early April and was miserable. At least I was at driving home when I got sick. I walked in the door and grabbed a test and took it. Figured I got it at Hollywood Studios at the beginning of my trip. The timing was right for incubation time and I wasn't careful enough about sanitizing and masking up that trip.

I sure am careful now!

I just got back and tested positive too. Pretty awful. I suspect from packed bus to MK or packed preshows. And flew home on SW probably contagious (unknowingly). I feel bad about it.

Prior to the pandemic, WDW has always been filled with illness. I cannot tell you how many people I know who went there and came back sick. We have gone there and my DW, DD and DGD have gotten sick on one trip. It is nothing new to catch something there. People come from all over the world to go there. They spend a lot of money to go and don’t want to miss out, so they go.

All 4 of my family members got Covid over the 4th of July there. Just know that if you go to Florida, you WILL come into contact with it. We called and told them about my son (who got it first) and they locked his ticket down for 5 days not to enter the parks. I cannot tell you how many coughs, sneezes, and other that I heard on our trip.

I was sure I had caught it, as my friend got a bad cough and headaches during our stay at Kidani earlier this month, and I got ill during the drive home. So although we were sick for a couple weeks, we tested negative for COVID, there is a bad cold/bronchial thing going around, too. I'm finally feeling better. It never got to our lungs, just our head and chests. My friend is still pretty sick, but he has severe arthritis and is on immuno-suppressants.

About a month ago (home , not disney) we had bad colds. Sounds like you. Tested negative.

Are people just testing to test or feeling off. Really If I have a little tickle or cough a few times, I wouldn't think to test. If I felt really bad, yes I'd test.

Came home from Dream last night, and we were feeling poorly. DH and I both tested + an hour ago. I was to be on DVC Wish today, but an eye problem caused me to go to sick bay on Dream on Saturday and the doctor there suggested I cancel that cruise and see my home ophthalmologist. Eye, OK, thankfully, did check with doctor by phone earlier today.

Have tele medicine meeting with health care provider in an hour. Hope to get the medicine that helps with Covid soon!

I have heard of people testing negative when they feel bad then testing positive as they start to feel better. Also heard of people testing negative when they feel good and someone in their family has it then, about 5 days later, starting to feel bad and still testing negative until several days into their illness. :( That happened to a couple of families I know. Mask, sanitizing and prayers is about the best protection and even then...
