Got COVID-19 during first home resort visit :-(

So sorry to hear that! I managed to dodge it myself successfully until our recent return to the office after working remotely for two years. I was back for 2 days and then out for the count. Both DH and I tested positive and he needed to postpone elective surgery. I am happy it was not worse than it has been, but we are still feeling exhausted with “Covid-brain” (a general fogginess) a month later. At the time we tested positive, it was rampant in Southeastern PA, so we were in “good” company. 😒

Being sick on vacation is the worst. And television at the WDW resorts is pretty pathetic. 😴. I hope you feel better and recuperate quickly.

Sorry to hear so many ill. Most reports from those I know who were fully vaccinated either didn’t know they had it until a mandatory test came back positive or just mild symptoms. Be well.

will say, the infection window can really vary. It’s difficult to pin down exactly where/when you acquired infection…even if you have one of workable exposure notification apps on your phone. Even then, that’s usually an after thought as it often comes in so late. We’ve received them on several trips, no issue for us tho.

I am sorry you are sick and I hope you feel better soon. It’s never fun to be sick on vacation.

I caught the fever and chills flu while at WL many years ago, and couldn’t get out of bed (except to crawl to the bathroom) for three days. I was there solo, and had been assigned an accessible room with a roll in shower that had a seat, and the room had grab bars everywhere. Someone was really looking out for me when that room was assigned. To this day, I make sure I pack OTC meds and the makings for tea, because I needed them so badly on that trip and didn’t have them.
Same! I had a very similar experience right before Covid became widespread, in Jan. 2020. In fact I later wondered if it was Covid but after having Covid for sure in Jan. 2021, I think not. Learned my lesson too--never go to WDW without OTC meds! There's very little in the gift shops, and when I tried to order from Amazon my order got cancelled for some unknown reason.

youre not alone. I also got it from my late April early May trip (cruise & WDW trip). Triple vaxed too. Take care.

So sorry to hear this.

My mom tested positive while we were at WDW in March (on our return test to come back to Canada - she had no symptoms so we were all surprised). We were staying at PVB and called front desk. They moved her and my dad to a Fort Wilderness Cabin. They did not charge them anything (besides the points they had already spent for PVB). If they wanted to stay even longer than their original check out day they could have for a reasonable price (I want to say around $350?)

Anyway - it was a stressful situation but Disney could not have been more lovely. The cabin was well appointed and they were given the direct line of a manager who made they they had everything they needed. It was a strict nobody in or out but they were really well taken care of. They were allowed deliveries and I believe a nurse even checked in with them daily.

It may be worth a call to your front desk as they were well versed in what would happen in this scenario.

So sorry to hear. Hope it’s a quick recovery. I’m on way back to Disney this weekend and everyone I know has caught it after a trip to Florida. It’s just everywhere there with 5digit new cases reported every day. I hope it settles soon.
Get well.

I taught in person for two years and just got it my first week of summer break! I think I got it at my sons swim meet, but that’s outdoors… so I’m not really sure! My daughter has dance nationals next week. Last year sooooooo many kids got it and I’m expecting the same or worse this year. Hoping we stay healthy! Hope you have a mild case.

I will try the front desk in the morning. Really struggling.

If front desk is unsure, ask to speak to one of the resort managers. That’s who ultimately coordinated my moms transfer and Fort Wilderness Stay. There were a whole row of “quarantine cabins” at the time that she was there. Really hope you feel better soon.

I got it at a hockey game beginning of May. Didn’t realize 18,000 screaming fans could be dangerous <g>. I was lucky, cold symptoms for a couple days. Coughing was the worst part.

I made 8 trips to WDW during covid and caught it on my 9th trip this past weekend. Left Disney on Sunday, scratchy throat Monday night and full symptoms Tuesday. Positive test yesterday and already feel better today. Fingers crossed that I continue to improve... So far the rest of my family is fine. The only thing I did without them was rope drop Epcot for a few hours Saturday morning but the timing of symptoms makes it seem more likely we were exposed Thursday or Friday. For the record, we drove and stopped only for gas so its not likely we caught it en route.

Sounds like a lot of people are getting it at Disney (and I’m sure elsewhere). I’m feeling better today and am just hanging in my new room at BLT. Watched Stranger Things on my laptop.

By the way, I was complaining about not being able to stream on the CCV TVs. Turns out they were installing new TVs in our room after we left so I just missed it!

Yup! I got the 'vid on my May 2022 trip. But, to be honest, I didn't know! I was feeling tired, and I even took an afternoon off to rest in the hotel room. But, I honestly thought that was just me being 350 lbs and walking 12 miles one day, and 10 miles the next.

Then, when I got home two days later, I was feeling very off.. that's when I tested. :/

I had that happen to me in May! I'm double vax'd and double booster'd. I was NOT as mask compliant as usual - probably wore mask in 95% indoor and 0% outdoor. i'm a mobility scooter user and there's LOTS of hands moving/pushing it around all places. Due to an iritation in my eye I stopped using hand sanitizer 100% of the time to maybe 1% because I found myself rubbing my eye... anyway...
at first I thought it was allergies - slight tickle in throat and way more tired than usual (but I am nearing 60 with issues) so I figured it was just my body saying I'm waking up too early and staying out too long. When the tickle didn't go away and I actually went back to Coronado Springs (now known to be as Coronavirus Springs) during the day I knew something wasn't quite right and took a COVID test which was very positive - what a negative on vacation. I contacted CS staff and was immediately put into isolation in my room for the next 5 days. I texted the manager on duty food orders and it was left outside my door. I was prescribed Paxlovid and thankfully my brother & sister in law live 15 minutes from WDW and they were able to go to the pharmacy to pick it up for me as the pharmacy wouldn't deliver that particular med. I literally slept about 19 hours for the 1st 4 days.

Leaving Monday June 27 for my next 11 day (Happy 60th BD to me) stay at Pop Century. I will wear a mask constantly. I will use sanitizer on my scooter and every possible surface. I never want to feel that yucky again if there's any possible way to prevent it. This is my last scheduled vacation for this year and I'm hoping whenever my next one is, this is much less a threat. Because right now - it's still pretty bad

I hope you have a rapid recovery. You very well could have caught it on your own at Epcot on Saturday. My husband had a 2-3 day turnaround when he started showing symptoms (we were only at WDW for 2 days, and we know he caught it there). Evidently, that's pretty standard for Omicron.

We went mid-May and on day 6, we made the observation that at least one person in EVERY party we saw seemed to be coughing. By the end of that day 2 of the 8 were testing +, two others followed shortly behind. It was half the group's first trip so far from ideal but they still felt it was worth it.
WDW is like a giant COVID breeding ground. Someone asked about how they are staffing, probably because the staff has ALL already gotten it and recovered. I seriously don't know how anyone working there could have not caught it.

I was sure I had caught it, as my friend got a bad cough and headaches during our stay at Kidani earlier this month, and I got ill during the drive home. So although we were sick for a couple weeks, we tested negative for COVID, there is a bad cold/bronchial thing going around, too. I'm finally feeling better. It never got to our lungs, just our head and chests. My friend is still pretty sick, but he has severe arthritis and is on immuno-suppressants.
