the CMs who work the reservation lines (resorts and dining) are spectacular....best customer service reps i've even spoken with ever....if only the phone companies could learn the trick of getting decent people to work their contact centers..
anyway, congrats on cindy's.....
if you're into character breakfasts, the chrystal palace is also nice...but you can make that reservation when you get to WDW... a day or two before is sufficient....even my kids (21 and 18) enjoyed the chrystal palace breakfast this year.....and that's saying a lot because they've refused all character breakfasts for a few years now (we've gone to all of them over the years numerous times except cindy's).....
in addition to the character meals, you might enjoy the Prime Time Cafe at MGM.....it's like eating in a house from the 1950's (the house i grew up in actually had a kitchen that looked just like that) and the CMs are supposed to treat you like one of the family (yelling at you for not washing your hands, putting you in the corner for eating with your elbows on the table, etc etc).....it's very cute....especially if you get a CM who's really into it (we did this year....he was a riot....but we ate very early when the place was empty, so he had lots of time to devote to harassing us).....two young women (probably about 20 years old) sat down next to us....at first they were really embarrassed and didn't understand what he was doing....but then they starting getting into it and having a great time...
another fun restaurant you'd probably enjoy is Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge....really fun....the name is all wrong, since the CMs there are yelling all the time.....
go for breakfast, lunch or dinner.....they go crazy all the time....and if you have a birthday make a point of going there....they'll get the whole restaurant up and dancing, but as i said, any meal there is noisy and fun....
read the description at allearsnet to get ideas of the sort of mischief they get into...i think it's described at allearsnet......when we were there, a boy at the table next to us yelled out "ketchup please"....he just yelled it out...there were no CMs around at the time....he yelled it out the way the CMs there yell....well....the CM came with a tray of about 20 bottles of ketchup and put it on their table (a table for 4)....then he came back about 5 minutes later with an entire carton of ketchup bottles and put them all on their table...as you can imagine, every inch of the table was covered with ketchup bottles.....the whole restaurant was laughing.....then the other son yelled out "water please".....the CM came with a huge glass jar (an industrial sized pickle jar) filled with ice water and two straws (for the two boys)...then the daughter yelled out "water please" and another CM came out with a teenee tiny itsie bitsie little mug....like from a doll house, with ice water in it....
we couldn't stop laughing....
for us, they made clothing out of napkins, since we'd told them that our luggage was lost (we ate there our first morning since we were staying at the WL and we weren't in a rush or anything, especially without luggage)...
for all of the restaurants mentioned above, you can make reservations when you get to WDW....a day or two before the day you want to eat there is sufficient.....actually, at Prime Time, we walked in and got a table (since we ate very early, at 11:30 AM)....the chrystal palace reservation i got the day before (and we were there in very crowded July)....and whispering canyon we walked in for an early breakfast and got a table....
