Got called an ******* for getting off bus before the ramp was down for scooters

Hello all. Yesterday around 4pm my family and I were on a bus going from Hollywood studios to Polynesian. As we were waiting to get on the bus and there was apparently this group of 14 who just finished a VIP tour who thought they were better than everyone else, they told us that there wasn’t enough space for us (there was enough space all the kids had seats and only a few guys stood me being one of them)

On the bus was fine, but after we got to the poly apparently this group decided that the scooters are suppose to get off first, and the cast member apparently thought so too, but don't they normally get off last? Basically one of the members in the party of 14 told me to wait until the ramp is out before leaving after their party, I told them I didn’t need the ramp and got off. After I left he apparently called me an a**hole which i didn’t hear, but my wife did. I wear a kippa too so I'm at a heighten state of alert. Is this normal Disney behavior now?

I reported this to a cast member and I met with Disney security. I then followed up later but they didn't really do much or seem to care all that much. It was extremely off putting and ruined the magic and still is ruining the magic. I’m not really used to having strangers call me such vile names and Disneys response hasn’t really been great at all.
Being called out for rude behavior is upsetting, especially when you have done nothing wrong. Also, constantly feeling like you are on 'heightened alert' can make you more sensitive to any actual or perceived attack. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.

Sure it was inappropriate, but chances are, you’re going to come across all kinds of questionable/inappropriate behaviours in the parks throughout your days. Don’t let a single negative interaction with a stranger bother you. The magic comes from within you. And you need to be able to let things go or try to see things from another person’s perspective in order to feel it.

Anyways, let’s flip this around for a moment. The person who asked you to wait til the ramp was out before getting off, probably thought you did something inappropriate by getting off before the ramp was out.

So again. I ask, what did you want or expect security to do?
I made this trend to see if the policy changed and if I acted appropriately or not

I get the frustration but how would you feel if you were part of the scooter group and half the party had to wait for the next bus?
You having to "split up" to sit doesn't seem like that big of a deal.
You could have chosen to stand next to each other if it was impotant to not split up within the bus.
Kind of feels like ECV groups should wait in line and then board when their group gets to the front? I have seen a long line (multiple bus loads) for the bus skipped by a group because they have an ECV which didn't feel right.
I’m surprised that their 2 parties were so large that you could not find 2 seats together on the bus! Together they would need to have 30+ other guests and all of them sit separately in order for you not to have 2 seats together.
It wouldn't take that many people really. There is a maximum of 31 seats on a typical Disney bus and you lose 3 seats for each ECV.

Did the driver ask you to wait until the scooter exited? You should have listened.

Did another pax ask you to wait and then called you names? You were right but what did you expect security would do? You were wrong.

Policy? Maybe the driver has discretion. Assume you were initially right. The driver and security have better things to do then mediate such a minor issue

i can’t recall. Driver discretion to change policy?

I think Disney is in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Option 1 (ECVs load first): The good part of this is there's fewer people on the bus, therefore making it easier to load and secure the ECV. The bad part of this is the ECV group could "jump"/"cut" the line of people who have been waiting already, possibly causing THOSE groups to split (or the whole group to wait for another bus). To my knowledge, there's really no way for a driver to know if the ECV pulled up a minute before he arrived or 15.

Option 2 (ECVs load in order they get there): The good thing is this appears "fair" to other guests already in line. The bad thing is a loaded bus would be more difficult/unsafe to load and secure an ECV, possibly even forcing people to get up from their seats and stand for the ride (I believe there are seats that can be used if an ECV is NOT on the bus).

For anyone who gets upset ECVs load first, just remember "there but for the grace of God go I". If you REALLY think the ECV person (and their group) is "getting one over on you", think about whether you'd like to be confined to an ECV for a Disney trip.

Did security talk with your wife too? Because you reporting what she said she heard is hearsay. Not admissible as evidence.

And how many more times in your life will you see these people? I could care less what someone called me.
True - I’ve had people I know and love call me an AH - doesn’t bother me in the least! 😂

Yup - my ‘view’ from my ECV is a sea of AHs - literally - I’m always at butt level! 😂

Hi all,

There's a DIsney rule about being a max of 4 per group for each chair/scooter but it's not always enforced. Had a group of 6 during holiday season and were given the choice to split or wait for next bus twice.

Funny how Moderate hotel guests sometimes get split up but rarely Poly/Deluxe guests.

Paying more does not give you the right to be obnoxious. But ironically, it probably increases your odds to be exposed to them.

Luckily, most Disney guests are decent and kind with each other. Eventually, karma will get the few obnoxious ones.

Hate to say it but this is a Frozen moment, "Let it go." You're not going to resolve this issue and just get more upset about. You were not the A'hole according what we think is Disney policy, which is first on, last out - at least the year my wife had to use a scooter that's what were told. Further, we keep hearing that Disney limits groups scooters, but I can't say I've ever seen it happen. Go back to enjoying the trip or the memories and let this go.

Why’s their party being together more important than mine? Why should we stand when we waited a long time and were first in line, for a group to just roll up at the last minute and get priority? Just my opinion.

Well you didn't say your party was split between 2 buses which is potentially what that group would have had to do.
You also didn't have to stand.... but if you cannot handle one person sitting closer to the middle and the other closer to the back for you to walk off and meet each other outside of the door then you could have stood.
Again like I said I get it. It feels like someone is getting better treatment but sometimes you just gotta let these kinds of things roll off your shoulders because at the end of the day it should not have been a make or break moment during your trip.

I'm not a scooter/wheelchair user so again I can totally get the frustration. Been there and felt that way.
But when you consider only a couple of them can fit on each bus there are some people that have to wait for several buses in order to get on and to me THAT doesn't seem fair.
Also they HAVE to go on first or there's not enough room to maneuver them. It only makes sense that if you are going to the take the person in the scooter first that then their entire party gets on the bus before others so that they do not have to then wait for another bus and leave the scooter person...
With age I have started to recognize there are situations I can't be the main character in my life so as much as I feel like maybe its "not fair" I just suck it up and remember that its not all about me.
