Yeah...I just got a call last night that my waitlist for a 1bedroom/standard view came through for the Boardwalk from July 13-18....we originally had reservations for OKW but wanted Boardwalk.

We have a Standard view/1 bedroom and I requested near the pool since I have 2 children......any room number suggestions?

Just a few questions:

1) Is this resort within walking distance to Epcot and MGM?
2) Is there boat transportation?
3) Can you see either Illuminations or the Fireworks (if scheduled) at MGM?
4) What is closest grocery store?
5) Best restaurant recommendations on Bwalk?

Thanks!!!

Congrats!

1) Is this resort within walking distance to Epcot and MGM? Yes
2) Is there boat transportation? Yes
3) Can you see either Illuminations or the Fireworks (if scheduled) at MGM? If your room is on a higher floor, yes.
4) What is closest grocery store? Goodings & there is also the smaller grocery area at "The Screen Door" store on the Boardwalk (a bit pricey.)
5) Best restaurant recommendations on Bwalk? Flying Fish & Spoodles

the best aspect of BWV is that you can walk to both MGM and Epcot....
there are boats to both, but most of the time we found it faster to walk....
the fireworks portion of illuminations can be seen....
and there is a store right on the BW that sells some groceries, but it can pretty expensive....
spoodles is a really good restaurant....and the ESPN club is nice too...

1. It is an easy walk to Epcot, or you can take a boat to Epcot and MGM.

2. See number 1

3. You can kind of see fireworks at Illuminations, I am not sure about MGM

4. They have a small convenience storegrocery on the Boardwalk, very pricey. Goodings is the closest full store I know of, just outside of Downtown Disney (Crossroads), but it is also very pricey. Try to find a Publix or Winn Dixie.

Exit Disney property from Downtown Disney. Turn left (where you would go straight across to Crossroads - Goodings) - shortly you will see a Winnie-Dixie.

if you turn right (where you would go straight across to Crossroad)- stay on this road a good time - right before it stop (it will hit 192) there is a Publix on the left. If you miss this turn - don't worry - just turn left where it hits US192 - about 2 miles down there is a Super Walmart on the right.

they are all within a 10 mile range of WDW and worth the extra distance in savings.

5. The ESPN club is most kid friendly

Congrats on your wait-list success.

Yesterday was the 7-month mark for the end of our Oct. vacation. We had OKW (our home) booked but were hoping for BW Standard View. I called Member Services expecting to have to wait-list but was shocked when the CM said they had several Standard View 1BR units available! Yippee! Now we get one week at BWV and one at OKW!

We also love the Bakery for breakfast. Eating out on the BW or back in the room they have pastries, cereals, etc for a quicker & cheaper breakfast. Spoodles has the take out window for pizza which is yummy! ESPN has great burgers, chicken wings, etc, but can be noisy in the evenings. The hot dog stand on the BW is quick & good or walk over to Beach Club & Beaches & Cream for ice cream & burgers, Cape May for a Character Breakfast or Seafood buffet. Haven't tried any of the places in the Swan & Dolphin, but several list a discount for DVC members. We never have enough time to try everywhere!
