Well first I was going to fly into Tampa and drive the 1.5 hours, over Orlando because I could save $130 on two tickets... especially the flight I want, the redeye, so I leave at 12:30 get in Florida by 9:30-11 (depending if I hit MCO or TPA). Well I'm ready to book then I look for rentals... MCO has an ultra-cheap rental at $12 a day, cheapest place at TPA is $22 day, or about $80 difference, so now it became a matter of saving $50, or the convenience of not driving 1.5 hours before my trip or after my trip...
So I went with the more expensive flight... BUT I only booked 1 way, did this trick when we went to Maui a few years back where the return trip was pretty darn expensive, so I waited until maybe a month out, and managed to snag a last minute deal (didn't save any money overall, but I got 3 more days on another island for the same price!)
Hopefully this doesn't backfire, probably should have just booked the round trip flight being as I doubt I'll save terribly much on the return flight as it is a Sunday.
