I just received the following email from Disney:

Dear Disney Guest,

Re: Order Number(s): XXXXXXX

Thank you for your recent order in which you redeemed a $15 Holiday
Magic Card. We have just learned that information about the Holiday
Magic Card was inaccurately posted on certain Web sites and email
services without Disney's prior knowledge or authorization. Disney
provided the Holiday Magic Card only to Disney Guests who
participated in a retail promotion that ended earlier this year.

Use of the Holiday Magic Card is subject to all the terms and
conditions printed on the back of the Card, as re-printed below.
Each Card is valid for only one transaction and cannot be used in
connection with certain merchandise and other offers, as stated in
the terms and conditions.

To enable us to release your order for shipment, we need to match
your actual Holiday Magic Card with our records of your actual
order. Please mail your Holiday Magic Card(s), along with your
name, address and Order Number(s), to:

Holiday Magic Card Redemption
Disney Online
P.O. Box 29144
Shawnee Mission, KS
66201-9144

Upon receipt and verification of the above, we will release your
order and credit your account for any applicable Holiday Magic
Card discounts, plus $.39 for postage reimbursement. If we do not
receive your Holiday Magic Card by midnight on November 23, 2002,
your order will be canceled.

If you have any questions, please contact us at
guest.services@disneyonline.com or call us at 800-362-8319.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Sincerely,

Disney catalog and DisneyStore.com

I got a reply to my email stating that they were sorry for any confusion and that my credit card had only been charged the discounted price, despite what the confirmation email said. Go figure!

I got the same email.

Well I quess they will be cancelling my orders(2) because I will not be paying that high shipping and handling charges for two orders.I will just go back and reorder my items all together and get the free shipping.

Mine was a pre order & I got this email cancelling the order.

Thank you for your recent order using the Holiday Magic Card.

The terms and conditions printed on the back of the Holiday Magic
Card (as noted below) state the card is not valid on pre-sale items, such as pre-sale DVDs or Videos, or items that are not in stock at the time of purchase. Therefore, we have canceled your order for this item. Please visit us at DisneyStore.com if you wish to re-order.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Sincerely,

Disney catalog and DisneyStore.com

Although I am disappointed, I'm not surprised & I don't think it was the wrong thing for them to do in this case. Their system should not have allowed it though.

I missed out on this 'fun' with the code. HOWEVEAR, if I had used the code and it went through and then I started getting these emails, I would contact my Attorney General's office.

If Disney's website was not prepared to handle and reject codes as invalid, that is there problem and they need to do better system testing prior to sales. It is not the consumers fault and to place additional burdens on consumers is not appropriate. I realize that many people may have overused the promotion, but it again goes back to Disney did not do adequate system testing on this promotion and are now paying the price.

I also received the same e-mail. I then e-mailed them back to please cancel my order. I just received another e-mail saying that they can't once the order is placed. So I am not sure what they are going to try & charge me.

what are they up to?

What do they mean they can not cancel?

This is getting more strange by the moment.

Mal

I cancelled my order Thursday morning. Glad I went ahead and cancelled it before these emails came out.

Hey Mal, the e-mail says:

Thank you for your recent order.

Changes may not be made once an order is entered. We have upgraded our system, which allows a "faster method" for processing the order. The credit card authorizes immediately. Once this is completed, due to security purposes, we cannot make any type of change to that order.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Sincerely,
Virginia

All I wrote to them was please canc4el my order. So I am not sure what they mean. I got an e-mail from them saying that I needed to send in my holiday gift card, since I don't have one, I asked them to cancel. That was the next e-mail I got.

I can not beleive that what is there problem.Well just let your orders sit there until the 24th then and let them cancel them then.

Or maybe you will get your order and no way can they charge you anymore than you agreed too.

Good Luck

Mal
