Hi guys,
well with just 4 more sleeps before we take off the whole family has come down with the most awful cold ever!!
I know in dec there was a thread tat had fab dvice on how to clear sinuses before take off but i have spent ages searching for it and cant find it :surfweb: :confused3
So whats the best way to cope with a cold on a flight and any advice for little ones by dd 2 is s eriously struggling today !!
Is 4 days enough for us all to start getting over it again??
Can you tell im panicking

Take paracetamol between now and your flight and calpol for the little one.

I had really bad ears on the flight some years back and that was because I had a cold. Just make sure you have got rid of it, or maybe go and see the pharmicist for some advice on something stronger. But definitely get some ear plugs for all of you just in case.

Hope you have a lovely holiday though.

Take eachinnacia tomorrow (no idea how to spell it!) it boosts your immune system, I take it whenever I feel like Im coming down with something and most times it stops it developing at all. You can buy it in chemists, supermarkets etc. :goodvibes

It's probably a bit late for you now, but worth a shot anyway: at the first sign of a cold we take effervescent vitamin C with zinc. It always seems to do the trick for us, but you may already be past the critical stage.

I ditto the echinacea and vitamin c advice! :)

I always take the 2 at the sign of a cold, had haven't suffered badly since I started a few years ago - even when loads around me are.

It could be that only one works, but as I take both together I don't know which!

I have no useful advice but wanted to say with 4 days you should be over the worst of it.

Try and drink plenty of fluids and rest (I know with 4 days to go easier said than done!) as much as possible!

Hope you still have a great trip :thumbsup2

We resorted to the old remedy of putting Friar's Balsam in very hot water and sitting under a towel, breathing in the fumes! Clears up sinus problems very quickly.

You'll be fine! ;)

As said by everyone else - calpol for the little ones and something like Lemsip for those old enough. Take enough for you to have on the plane. This happened to me in 2003 and everyone told me not to worry and that I would leave my cold on the 'plane. Didn't believe a word, but by the time I got off the 'plane, my cold had vanished (probably somewhere in the air-con!:lmao: )

Main thing rest fluids and no panic!

Happy holidays!!

Can I recommend sudafed nasal spray for the adult?? It'll do wonder for your blocked sinus's! I'm alergic to antibiotics and this works a treat for me - and it's only about £2.00!

For kids I recommend ovatrine (I think that's how you spell it) to unblock noses. You can take both medicines with calpol/paracetamol and also ibuprofen.

Also I recommend that you take both paracetamol and ibuprofen together. Keep them at the usual dose, but take one lot, then take the alternative after two hours etc. This will keep your pains/aches at bay and you'll feel much better!

This works magically for us and I hope it helps your family too :woohoo:
