Does anyone else get those boil things on their skin? Can someone tell me what they really are, how does one get them, how can you prevent them and anything else they might know about them?

I have had one or two pop in every few months or so for as long as I can remember. But now, all of a sudden, it seems like I'm getting them 2-3-4 at a time every couple weeks.

What's up with that?

I don't get them, but I know what you are describing. Have you seen a Dr. about it? Re-occuring boils are usually a sign of a chronic staph infection. Your Dr. can prescribe some antibiotics to clear it up. Most likely, he/she will lance one of the boils and do a culture of the drainage to find out which antibiotic will help you. :)

My dad gets scaby things as well. He has seen the doctors but they haven't been able to completely get rid of them. My mom believes its from going to the cheap hair cutting places (Fantastic Sam's) since he usually gets bad outbreaks right around the time he goes and gets his hair cut. He won't go anywhere else so its a constant issue in the house.

I would try to figure out where they started from (his always the scalp) and then start trying to notice the pattern of what you did around that time and narrow it down. Also antibiotics and ointment will help.

Does it hurt when you pop them?
I get them down here in AZ (never did in Alaska). I get anywhere from 1-5 of them a year. When popped, it feels like they is a stinger or something inside. Impossible to get out. The stupid area stays inflamed for months. Impossible not to scratch or rip the skin out. :( It hurts but itches but hurts soooo bad.
The doctor told me I am allergic to something down here. Always happens in May/June and the area clears up in September/October. At first I thought for sure I had another form of Chicken Pox.

A "boil" could be a gazillion things. The dermatologist would be the best person to help you.

I get tunneling pylonidal cysts (which aren't really cysts, but that's what they call them) and nothing short of surgical removal stops them from being (literally) a pain in the butt. Well, right above the butt - but too close for comfort!

I know how much they hurt and what the repeated infections do your mind, body and spirit. If you end up being diagnosed with them, pm me. I have tons of info on it and 21 years of experience dealing with them.

I hope whatever you have that you get rid of it and feel better soon! :hippie:

eta: I edited the TMI stuff. No reason for it and don't want it "out there."

My skin breaks out in little rashes from stress. Always in the same spots.

Honestly, don't pick at anything! I've got little scars now which I wouldn't have if I didn't pick.

I find myself in stressful situations scratching my skin raw and I don't even notice it.

My daughter had one once on her knee and they cultured it and it was a staph infection as well as a strep infection. Neither a germ you want to fool around with. It's best to have them checked out.

Research Hidradenitis Supprativa. This is what I had and it isn't any fun.

Don't want to explain too much because that would be TMI!

OMG I had this problem for about a year and a half...it was awful. I had them pop up about every 2 months or more...and omg they hurt something awful. It was some weird kind of staph infection, my niece (who doesn't live anywhere near me) had the same thing going on. Finally they just went away...but it was a very frustrating year and a half. They were EXTREMELY painful. Sometimes I could pop them and they would feel better, but other times if I tried to pop them they would get worse...it was awful.

OK--I have no advice but I did let my curious side get me and went to youtube.

Holy Zit

That was so gross, I watched the first one twice. Had to have my DS12 watch too. Then we had to watch part two. My DD9 came in and had to run out for gagging. My son and I just laughed. Those girls kept complaining that it smelt.

Mono~rail---first it was poo now zits---you are a riot.

Thanks for sharing:rotfl:

Okay...I have never seen a zit so big that the goop coming out looks like vanilla pudding. Ugh.

Dang dang dang!!

Now I know why they say curiosity killed the cat!

:faint: :scared: :crazy2:

These people filmed this and put it on the net?

And omgosh, that guy needs some antibiotics! Yikes!!!

Just call me stupid, but yes, I came back for more. I sat here laughing my bum off. That was just sick. That one with the asian lady and the knife:eek:

I think this has cured me of all my zit curiousities (is that a word). You wont find me in front of the mirror anytime soon.
