Got A Cricket-what Kind Of Cool Stuff Can I Do With It?

I ordered a cricut online yesterday and got the mickey font and mickey and friends cartridges. Give me some of your best tips for someone not having a clue how to use it. Also, I've read boards where people are talking about downloading fonts. How does this work?

1- watch the videos on the Cricut dot com website
2- the manual that comes with it is about 1/4 inch thick, but only 20 pages are in English. Read them.
3- in the box with the cart will be another little manual. Again, only the first few pages are English. Read them. The most of the pages are what the cart can cut. You'll use them.
4- if you want to do anything requiring the computer, you'll need the Cricut design software. It costs extra. The old lady's advice is - learn to use your Cricut first, before making the investment in the software. Then you'll know whether you'll use it sufficiently to warrent the purchase.

Do you have to use the "cricut" paper or can you use any scrapbook paper?

No, you do not have to use "Cricut Paper" you can buy cardstock or patterned paper anywhere. I would also say to watch the video on Cricut's website. The machine is pretty easy to use. It does however take a bit of patience and practice to work with the Mickey and Friends cart but once you get the hang of piecing characters you'll love it. Just play around with it a bit when you get it, you'll love it!
