I recieved a call today from DOT consumer protection who I called on Tuesday. The guy was very nice and said those of us who paid w VISA/debit cards will get our money. Here is what he sent me. If I can be of anymore help--just ask. Things are looking up.

As a side note---he said is a good possibility SE will fly again in 05 after they go thru some reorganization. He also said its better they closed and didnt file bankruptsy cuz then we would all be in line w the creditors and woudl get whats ever left. So, he said in lite of the situation....closing up like they did was best for us who paid w debit cards.

Information for Consumers Regarding the Cessation of Operations of Southeast Airlines

1. Transportation
Public charter carrier Southeast Airlines ceased operations on November 30, 2004. Although other airlines are not required to accept Southeast tickets, some may be willing to do so, perhaps with an additional charge. Southeast ticketholders can ask other carriers on their route if they are accepting Southeast tickets and what conditions apply.
2. Refunds
If you do not receive alternate transportation or you prefer to cancel your trip and obtain a refund, there are two primary means of pursuing the refund.
If you charged your Southeast ticket to a credit card, you may be able to have the cost of the ticket credited to your credit card account. Write to your credit card issuer, being sure to state your account number. Enclose a photocopy of any evidence of the purchase, or indicate the price of the ticket(s) and the date they were charged. State that Southeast Airlines has ceased flying and that you will not receive the services that you charged to your account, and that you are requesting a credit pursuant to the Fair Credit Billing Act.
Under the law, this notice must be received by the credit card issuer no later than 60 days after the date that you received the first monthly statement that listed the charge for the Southeast flight. However, credit card companies sometimes waive this deadline for future transportation.
If you paid for your Southeast ticket by cash or check, you should make a written request for a refund to Southeast Airlines’ escrow bank and securer:
Escrow bank:

Valley National Bank
Global Escrow Services
1040 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10018-3703

Securer:

United Bank of St. Petersburg
P.O. Box 14517
St. Petersburg, FL 33733-4517
In your claim, make reference to Southeast Airlines and include the dates and destination of your flights. Send a copy of all claims to Southeast at the following address:
Southeast Airlines
12600 Belcher Road South, Suite 104
Largo, FL 33773

Department rules provide that consumers have 60 days after the date their trip would have been completed to file a claim with the Securer. If you request a refund through your credit card company and your claim has not been acted on within 60 days of the date of your Southeast flight, you should be certain also to file a claim within that time period with the escrow bank and the Securer.

Glad to hear you will be getting your money back at least. It is also wonderful that you have also secured alternate airline tix for your trip! Congrats!

Be sure to file that claim and get your money back ASAP! And if you haven't heard back in a while, file with the securer and the escrow bank too, just to be sure.

Best of luck!

Just bumping this up for anyone who needs it. BE SURE to file a claim w/in the time frame tho!
