I'm having serious second, third, and fourth thoughts about my booking the deluxe resort. :confused3 I keep going back and forth, and back and forth and I really want to call CRO/Guest Services to change my reservations from BWI to POR and extending my trip from 9 to 11 nights. I just love POR and I'm not sure why I didn't just leave the reservation. BWI looks beautiful but I noticed there is no counter service there (derr..ya think I would have checked that first). In addition, I know I'll be missing the peace and quiet of POR. Did I say, I love POR?

Now, if in fact Guest Services can't change my reservations and apply the 40% discount, I'm seriously considering using my AAA $116 per night at POR vs. the $200 discounted rate at BWI. The only problem with that is that I won't be able to add the dining or tickets (I really like having the package thing). I've never booked with AAA, so I'm not sure...perhaps you can add dining?

I'd love to hear opinions. I'm such a pest...but at least I know it. ;)

I know Canadian Guy will be here in a moment to smack me. :rotfl:

You can book AAA with tickets and dining. I had my ressies through AAA for my October package, then I was able to get the 40% discount, so I cancelled with AAA and went with Disney instead. As far as what I would do....if you really love POR that much and you would be able to stay for an extra 2 nights, I would probably go with POR. I didn't know that BWI didn't have a food court. For me, that would be a negative. I like the convenience of having a food court at the resort, but that's just me! :goodvibes

Although BWI doesn't have a food court (which is usually a big thing for me)....I absolutely love the resort. We've stayed at many resorts and BWI was the quietest room we've had. The standard view out into the courtyard and toward Epcot is great. The rooms are very cheerful and the pool is a lot of fun. Also, with a deluxe you get queen beds...not the doubles that are in the moderates.

As to the food court....
You can get pizza to go at Spoodles window.
The bakery has options for all meals
You can hop on into Epcot for a quick CS meal.
The Screen Door store has many items to choose from.
There are other nearby resorts that have counter choices as well.

I say just keep trying for now to get the POR, I also have the 40% and could not afford my upcoming May trip and wanted to stay at the CBR, I just got it yesterday. I was calling everyday till last week and nothing...I tryied yesterday, and got it! so for now, keep trying to get that 40%!! Good luck!

I'll be honest.. I read your post 2x.. I didn't see an actual question there. Seems like you have a very good handle on how to do what you want.

You're just wondering IF you should do it? Do what makes you happy that's what I say. If that's POR -- the do it up whatever way makes financial sense for you. ;)

How did you get a coupon for 40% off? Just wondering if I meissed something that I could have used on our upcoming trip

Mommy:

This was a direct mail out offer to selected 'previous' Disney guests. Some folks managed to book it without receiving the offer but then that was seriously clamped down on...

The booking window for this promotion closed March 15th.

two years ago we booked our trip with AAA discount and ended up canceling it and booking directly with Disney because they came out with some offers and the deal was better and the service through AAA was horrible

DH & I stayed in a ground level std room overlooking the courtyard/quiet pool & found it to be very serene & picturesque. Also, it was great to cut across the courtyard to easily access the Boardwalk instead of walking all the way through the resort. Check out Deb Will's page on Deluxe Resorts II; it has a lot of great info on Epcot resorts. Our biggest draw is being able to easily access Epcot/MGM (5-10 minute walk or take a 5 minute boat ride), an abundance of great dining options including counter service such as the Boardwalk Bakery, Beaches & Cream/Hurricane Hannah's at YC/BC. Also, the Bellevue Room off the lobby is a place to grab continental b'fast in the morning.

My husband just arrived home and I told him I was up to my old shenanigans and he's putting his foot down this time ... we won't be changing our reservation back to POR. It's all paid for, so he thinks it would just be a hassle to get a refund etc... I did tell him that I'm adding days and he just :rolleyes1 .

I will NOT, repeat NOT take up more server space with my ridiculous questions. :)

We stayed at POFQ and loved it.

We then stayed at BWI and LOVED LOVED LOVED it.

We had a standard view room near the quiet pool. You could not get more peaceful and quiet anywhere on property (IMHO). This was the most perfect hotel I have ever stayed at.

I bet, you'll be happy.

Ask away.. I think all the planning and decision making and even the second guessing is almost half the fun of a trip to Disney.
