Got 40% discount code in mail...does it work on packages??

I've been in the process of planning a WDW trip for December this year and I was so excited when I opened my mailbox today and got a flyer with a code for 40%. It doesn't say whether it's room only or not. Does anyone know if these codes where they give you certain dates are just for the room only res's? If this is the case, does that mean I call to book the room and then book the dining, tickets etc...separately?

Is it usually cheaper to do it this way?

Last time we went, I just booked a package online, then called to get credited for free dining when that promo came out so I'm not really sure what the best way to do it is...

Congrats! The 40% off will apply only to the room portion however you will be able to add tickets and the dining plan if you choose.
Typically the percentage off varies based on the level of resort you choose. 40% is about the best percentage off you can get.

When staying deluxe room only is cheaper.. We just add tickets and DDP to our reservation no problem.

Now staying value the FD is cheaper..

They offer 42 and 45% discounts off sometimes.

Congrats! We had a package booked this past April and found a 20% room discount code...I called and they did allow me to use the discount on our room portion within our package. It was a WONDERFUL surprise and made me feel a little better about what we were spending. I'm praying the same thing happens for next year! Have a wonderful time!!!
