Are there any gorillas in AK? We just hit the 29 day mark and I'm starting to realize there are more things that I don't know than I originally thought! If the gorillas are on the safari ride, which side do we need to be on? My DS6 LOVES them and I'd really like to have the best seat for him.

There is a walk through gorilla exhibit. They are not seen during the safari ride.

I love the trails at Animal Kingdom! My favorite is the Pangani which is in Africa right next to Kilimanjaro Safari. There are a lot of animals on that one, including gorillas!

We were there two weeks ago. Now we are spoiled to have an awesome, closeup gorilla exhibit here in Atlanta so I have never been bothered by the ones at AK who seemed so shy. This trip they were all out. Two were moving all over and really putting on a show. One of the males was really teasing their audience coming all the way to the moat and showing off. Got some great photos.

Great pics! I hope they are as active when we are there! What time of day were you there? We recently went to the Audobon Zoo in New Orleans and the adolescent female really put on a show pounding her chest and playing in the water. I had to bribe DS away by letting him get a toy gorilla in the gift shop there! :rolleyes2 Also, I noticed there is a reflection in a couple of pics, is the trail kinda underground at eye-level?

I caught one of the gorillas my last time around resting his head on his fist like we do when we are board. and he had is lip pouted out. it was funny.

I remember the gorillas are in the area right after the meerkats and at first you see them behind glass. I don't know if it's still the way when I went there, but I remember someone that worked there said that the ones behind the glass were all of the females plus one male, since there can only be one head male. All the other males were around the corner and were separated from the females. So the first picture of mine is from the female group and the rest were males.

Usually I like to go earlier in the morning, since that's when most of the animals seem to be out.

And the gorillas are definitely funny, and they are so human like. I loved the way the gorilla in my first picture was laying down. We were watching her for the longest time and she looked so comfortable.

I got a great picture but will not post it here of a gorilla relieving itself. It was a most disgusting smell. :faint:

Thanks guys! I showed my son the pics and his face lit up! I'm looking forward to seeing them. Now let's just hope they are out that day
