GorillaPod

I have the dslr zoom version and love It. Took it to WDW and it worked out great. I just need to learn my camera settings. i have the Olympus evolt 500

Thanks for all of your responses. I think I am going to go with the DSLR version, I have a Sony H9.

Dan,
I have an S2IS as well and was curious as to how well it supported the camera. Did you use it at DW? And if so did you wrap it around all sorts of things or did you use it primarily as a standard tri-pod? Sorry for the strange questions, but I've looked at a couple that didn't seem sturdy enough to hold the camera up! TIA! Also, how quick is their shipping? We leave mid Sept!

I have the SLR model, http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/slr/. Works great. I have not used at WDW as yet (have had to cancel my last Dec trip and this past may trip) but hope to use in Oct. Around home I have used as a tripod as well as twisted around many things, works like it is suppose to. :thumbsup2 The lock ring and slim line attachment that come with that model also are great.

Thanks everyone for the feedback - I plan to hit Best Buy to check and see if they have them in our area, and also Cord Camera - I'm a person who has to hold it before I buy it! :confused3 - I know wierd! I'm so pumped about our upcoming trip! I'm hoping that by wrapping it around the handle of the stroller and using the timer "I" might make it into a few or our photos this time!!! On our last trip, 2 years ago, I was only in the ones we got from the photopass people!! I don't want my kids wondering who the mystery person was that took all those photos of them at WDW!!!;)

I have a Gorillapod SLR Zoom and I think it is very handy. One thing you might want to look into is a ballhead. This makes it easier to adjust the camera once you have the gorillapod secured.

Very cute photo Code - your camera looks ready for action!!!:goodvibes I did pick up the mid-size gorillapod today at our Cord camera - probably paid a bit more, but I have it in hand and didn't have to worry about shipping, etc. The kids keep looking at it like it's going to do a trick or something!! I'm very excited to have it in time for our trip!! Hope it helps get a few good firework shots!!!:woohoo: Thanks again for all the advice!
Blessings,

Taken with a GorillaPod Slr-Zoom, wrapped around an iron fence. They work well under some circumstances when nothing else will.

This post has got me curious. Are these things small enough and light enough to carry in a backpack?

Bob,
That's a great photo! Did you use your flash? The YOMD sign looks like it's lit up a bit?
I'm so glad to see photos taken using the pod - it's a great gizmo!
TFS!

Thank you! Yep, I used a Canon EX220 flash along with the long exposure. The "YOMD" sign was completely dark. The trick was getting the balance, the flash exposure was set to -2 stops to get it right.

I carry mine in the front of my canon gadget back with no problem.

I carried mine in a bag all the time while I was in Disney. Not heavy.

So glad I found this thread. I also have a few questions -- Jenn- mentioned one of them. How bulky is the Gorilla pod? Just wondering if it will take up a lot of space in a bag to carry around the parks.

Also, how quickly does it attach to the bottom of a p&s? My concern is that if it takes more than a few seconds to attach, my dbf will be two lands over by the time I set up and take the picture.

One more question....has anyone used the Bean pod?

Saw some of your responses to Jenn about the size of the gorillapod.

I secured the Gorilla to my camera bag strap with a velcro strap. It only weighs about a pound and is out of the way.
Of course that pound feels like 20 after a full day in the parks! ;)

I just keep the bottom part on my camera and it attachs in seconds...

Thank you boBQuincy and dpuck1998.

Hope you have a magical day! Mine isn't starting off so magically -- just got a ticket on my own street! :sad2:

I love it. I can't wait to try it at Disney next month.:woohoo:

It's the SLR version even though I have an S5 IS but he thought the regular one looked too dinky.

Does anyone here have one? Do you like yours? Do you use it?
