Respectfully, I disagree with most of this thread. Please don't paint all videographers with the same brush. I used a GoPro at Disney this summer to make a really wonderful vacation video (link in my signature), and I think I was respectful of those around me while I was doing it. If I am not using flash or blinking my lights, then what's it to you if I use a selfie stick? Why does that make me obnoxious? The footage I got of my whole family enjoying the attractions and interacting with the cast members is priceless. And for me, editing a video like this when I ge home is almost as much fun as the vacation was.
To answer a question from earlier in the thread - the only rides I couldn't use a selfie stick on were the water park rides. On those I handheld the camera. No problem taking it anywhere else.
