On things that you are looking to buy, if you do a google search, do you tend to click on the "sponsored links" on the RH side of the page?

ETA: I just set up a Google AdWords campaign and am curious.

I don't believe that I ever have before. That doesn't mean that I never WOULD do it, but so far nada, zilch, zip...

See, and that is actually cool, BECAUSE you only get charged for the people who actually click your link.

Nope. I always think they'll give my computer viruses. (Not like the regular links won't lol)

My ad won't... promise! :thumbsup2

BTW, I never would have thought of that... but then again I'm not searching for anything, shall we say, "shady"? :p

I never used to. But I recently watched a bio on the 2 Google guys on the History Channel. It talked about how they went out of their way to make sure the integrity of the priority order of the Google searches would stay uncompromised - meaning they wouldn't change the order of the results because of paid ad sponsorship.

Their company mission statement has always been, "Do no Evil." :cheer2: So to guarantee this, they purposely put sponsored ads in a well separated box or off to the side so no one will confuse them with the regular searches.

The Google AdWords sponsors help PAY for all of our free Google searches, the GMail, the Google Map, etc. to stay in business. Google receive 3¢ for each time someone clicks on one of their ads.

Since I must do like 10-25 Google searches a day, if I see a link that shows up in the regular results, and I want to look at that site, I'll purposely click on the AdWords link instead. It's the least I can do to keep them running.

I'm with you 100% on all except what I put in bold. I just started my account. It told me I can "bid" as little as ONE PENNY to have a sponsored link...... so how can they make 3 Cents? Except that I am sure nobody is bidding a penny. I bid 68 cents per click, which seems to keep me high on the sponsored links section.

I "think" Google gets 3 cents everytime you click on one one of those "ads by gooooogle" links you see.

BTW, I read the book, the Google Story. I highly recommend it!

I tend to click more often on my gmail than google.
