It's been out since 2007, but only got pictures for the UK 3 days ago. Since then, there's been tons of complaints about it. Dozens of photos have been taken off since the complaints because of what was shown, such as a man entering a sex shop, and a drunk man vomiting on the floor.
For those who don't know what it is, it's a feature on Google Maps where you can see 360 degree views from a road. If I remember, it's in the USA, Canada, Spain, France, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Japan, and more countries. People are complaining because it's an invasion of our privacy (but there hasn't really been any complaints until the UK got it). Google says that 99.9% of the photos have automatically blurred faces and number plates, but you can still easily recognise yourself. Also, the pictures are so detailed that you can literally zoom in and look through people's windows. All the pictures have been taken in public areas, so anyone can take a photo there.
So what do you think of Google Street View? Good or bad?
I think it's good. It's fun to explore the world in this way. If you find a picture you don't like, there's a button at the bottom where you can report it. As it's all in public areas, it's the same as me taking a photo in the same area, then posting it on multiple websites, except I won't blur anyone's faces.
