Google Happily Ever After Rumor....

I saw a report that if you google happily ever after fireworks, a July 21st date is listed as reopening. Obviously nothing has been mentioned from Disney but it does indeed say that under the google info after you search for it. Anyone know why?

It was briefly added to the HEA wikipedia page and then removed, doesn’t appear to be any other source (aside from blogs referencing the wiki) indicating a reopening date.

I doubt they can do any projections on the castle with all that 50th Anniversary stuff on it.

If HEA ever returns, it won't be until after the 50th is over and they take down all the decorations.

Before Covid though there was a plan in place to still have fireworks while decorating the castle, so this doesn’t make a ton of sense.

The decorations are pretty minimal and placed in such a way that you absolutely could have projections with the decorations up. "If HEA ever returns" - it's definitely going to return, it's WDW's most popular and well-loved show. They are not going to wait until 2023 (once the 50th celebration is over) for it to return.

They can decorate the castle and do projections, they just have to remap the software to adjust for the new castle surface.

Perhaps they have a new fireworks show planned for the 50th.

Have they ever done HEA on the castle when it's been covered in bulky decorations? The turrets currently have huge curled metal ribbons on them. I don't see how the projections could work around that.

They have done it with Christmas lights on the castle.

Well. Disney does update the shows every few years. They could be planning something new.

Wishes ran for 13 years.... Happily Ever After only ran for less than 3 years before COVID hit. Illuminations had a 20 year run.

I can see them slightly altering Happily Ever After, but no way would they put so much money into designing it, only for it to run for a couple years. It was also wildly popular with no demand for it to change.

This is the front of the castle for the 50th aniversary. I just don't see how projections can be shown on all those raised surfaces without causing a lot of shadows and image distortion, especially on the turrets. They aren't flat surfaces any more.

My thinking is that they'll have a different fireworks show for the 50th that involves lights and music but no projections, and HEA will be brought back once the celebration is over and the decorations are removed. But we'll see.
