Good thread.... Thanks moaddi for asking this.
I wasn't sure about the samething with my DD. She will turn two while we are there in May and I'm thinking she will just make the 35" mark.
My dd was a few weeks shy of her 3rd birthday and was exactly 35" tall. She loved it -- we rode it one evening when there were no lines - we rode it 6-7 straight rides.
My sister took my niece at age 2.5. My niece came off of it scared out of her wits. I have never seen this child scared of anything, but this got her. I have not rode Barnstormers, but my sister said that Big Thunder Mountain was "gentler" than Barnstormers. Each kid is different.
Mu ds was 4 and sat front car and I was in the second one with dd a few month over 3. They both loved it and I was freaking out about my 4 yr old being in the front car alone! lol
I don't know that I would bring a 2 yo on the Barnstormer. My DD was 4 1/2 before she'd even give it a chance. I'd say let them look at it and then make a decision. My DD5 is looking forward to it this year, but she wouldn't ride it before.
My DD will be 2 in a few weeks and we are going May 29th- I dont think she will be tall enough for it- but it sounds like its more about the child and their personality on if they will like it.
The height requirement probably has something to do with whip-lash concerns and where the safty restraint falls.
Are most "new" 2yr olds tall enough to ride it? I think my DD23months is about 31" I think.
If she was tall enough I would take her on it. I might point it out first and ask if she wanted to ride it.
My DD rode it when she was 2 and LOVED it! She rode with DH in the front and me and DD4 rode right behind them. It was during evening EMH and there was no line so we rode once, got back in "line" and then rode it 3 more times without getting off. DD4 liked Everest better, but the Barnstormer was perfect for DD2!
My DD was 2 1/2 and she loved it! Now all she wants to do is ride the Goofy airplane ride and scream. She thinks that screaming is a requirement when riding a roller coaster. Now she has just turned 3 and she is 40" tall. I guess we are riding Big Thunder Mountain next time!
Each kid is different! My DD was just shy of 3 and LOVED Goofy's Barnstormer -- rode it 7 times in a row without getting off just before closing one night.
Let your child watch it a few times (its faster than it looks!) before asking if they want to go on. It does scare the pants off some kids. Also choose a good time for the ride e.g. when the child isn't hungry, tired etc. but when they've done a few other rides too.
BTW, its a great barometer for how they'll do on (some) other rides. We're going to WDW on Sunday and she's already saying how she's going on the Mommy & Daddy Coasters this time!
My son is 2 and he barely was tall enough. He absolutely LOVED it!!! He laughed so hard to whole time we were on it. This picture is what he did as soon as we sat down to ride it. LOL!! He was super excited for it to start.
DD loved it. She was 2.5 and we too rode it in the evening, multiple times in a row. We must have rode it at least 10 times. She is 4 now, and still talks about it.
Just so you know, this is a very short ride. If your child wants to go on it, and then ends up hating it, it won't last that long. My DD loves it, but cannot stand Big Thunder. She does like Splash Mountain though. Each ride is a bit different!
My DS was 2 when he first rodeit...LOVED IT! However...My DD (who was 5 at the time) rode it too and absolutely HATED IT! She was scared and screaming the whole time. It just depends on the child!
My DD 20 months loved it last year! Her older sister (3 yrs.) thought it was boring but that was just b/c she had been on BTMR, ToT, and Test Track. Personally, I think it is a little rough. When they make the rides that small it is a lot of jerking around IMO. I'd rather ride one of the big rides than the small ones!
